  1. Nobody could offer Clemens the schedule flexibility that Houston can, so this seemed like an obvious move from the start.
  2. My first computer was a Packard Bell 486, now I've got an HP Pavilion laptop with 1.6 MHz processor and 100 GB hard drive.
  3. size 8... big heads represent! kevin mench! I'm your biggest fan! nah, he's like an 8 and a half or something :lol 7...also known as the JP model. i was in lids today and they had a 6 and a half  I've never known anyone to have a hat smaller than me who wasn't like...11. I wonder if they'll ever sell that 6 1/2.

  5. Oops, you beat me to it.
  6. Not the time to be putting this but DET. Fans love this dude! Hahaha, actually I was watching Game 1 with a Pistons fan and she was like "yeah our announcer is really obnoxious." Everytime I hear "DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETROIT BAAAAAAAAASKETBALL" I feel like punching something.

  8. I haven't flown anyone but Southwest for many, many years, but I'm flying Delta and American when I come down to Miami this weekend. I had a previous history with being extremely late on Delta, so this should be interesting, as I'm already scheduled to be getting in at 12:40 am. Talk about coming in late. I guess you are going RDU-ATL on Delta and ATL-MIA on American? No, the way in is all on Delta (stopping in Atlanta, of course) and then Monday morning I've got a direct flight from MIA on American.

  10. On the plus side for Olsen, he can't throw 100, thus removing the temptation that AJ always had to just try and throw his fastball by everyone.
  11. Considering we followed up a stretch of blowing 5-run leads in two of four games by losing 2 games in which we led in the 9th AND the 11th innings...I'm sure the Rays fans are saying the same about us.
  12. I entered the season thinking the team would win betwen 55-65 games, so I had low expectations(the official Las Vegas number was 64). I thought that the games would be just as interesting to watch, maybe more interesting......as compared to last year. To me this season is not about wins...it's about individual progress and achievments by the rookies. . . .So far, the team has been involved in quite a few close and exciting games. And it's been great to see the offense from Uggla and Hanley. The pitching problems were something I expected as well. . . What I did not expect is that even though the team has pretty much performed as I expected, with the exception of Uggla and Hanley, which comes as a nice surprise......I'm finding the games hard to watch. I think maybe I was deluding myself about the wins not meaning anything. Or maybe it's the fact that we've had so many close games with heartbreaking losses. Losing these kinds of games is also to be expected. Winning teams with veterans find a way to win. Losing teams with rookies find a way to lose. I don't blame things on Girardi, or the bullpen(the bullpen is a problem for almost every team). . . . In the end I have to admit that to me, last year's underachieving team was more watchable than the rookie progress thing. No matter what anyone says, it's gonna be hard to watch the team this year. Nobody wants to see their team go out and lose over 2/3 of their games. Even though the past two years' teams were "underachievers," they were still competing for the wild card spot and that automatically invests you in the game.

I know it's hard, but be polite and respectful. Parents love that. They're expecting to hate their daughter's boyfriends. I never understood why guys don't warm up to a girl's parents more. I mean there is no better way to get in good with a girl than to make nice with her parents. However a wedding on the second date would throw up red flags all over the place for me too... :o :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic :panic With me, I think it's because I tend to be pretty uncomfortable around anyone who's considerably older than me, so parents just adds that whole other level to it.
  14. I don't know why everyone's being so hard on Beckett about this. The blister problem is something that plagues him not only because it has put him on the DL a bunch of times but also because it gives him a stigma of being "soft" (see: number of times people on this board have called him Glass Beckett). I'm sure he's tired of hearing about it.
  15. The nicest area of Hialeah is where they want to put the stadium. Other than that Miami Lakes is nice which is Hialeah north. As far as Miami-Dade is concerned there are plenty of nice areas of Dade county. Since you mentioned SBC bicentenial park would be the cream of the crop. It doesnt get any nicer than that spot. I don't think--in fact I know--that Miami Lakes wouldn't want to be thought of as "Hialeah north." So to answer the original question, not unless they build up something nice around the new stadium.
  16. I always felt bad for Kensing because it seemed he'd never rebounded from the rushed callup in '04, so let's hope he does well this year.
  17. Maybe it's just that I'm a former Broward resident talking here, but I think that in terms of accessibility, both DS and the proposed new site are in a pretty ideal location. I've said this before but people forget that unlike in Boston and Chicago, in South Florida everyone drives. Not to mention that what is generally referred to as the "Miami metro area" should probably more accurately be the "tri-county metro area." From Wikipedia: According to the 2000 census, the city proper had a population of 362,470, while the larger metropolitan area had a population over 5,000,000. I think that really you should break down the attendance problems into "constants" and "fluctuations." Constants would be weather (heat or rain) and location (the stadium can't be close to everyone). These can't be addressed by the current stadium, and I'd argue that location can never be fully addressed in South Florida. A retractable roof should fix the weather problems. What can be addressed are the day-to-day and year-to-year fluctuations which work in addition to the factors which consistently depress attendance. Team play immediately jumps to the head of the list here. Competitive teams gain attendance as the season goes on...the 2003 team drew poorly at the start of the year but by September, and obviously the playoffs, everyone was on board. The crowds were pretty solid in July and August of the past two seasons. This year there will consistently attendance figures of 6 and 7 thousand because nobody wants to watch a team this uncompetitive. Toss the uncertain future of the team in the mix as well as the messy ownership situation throughout the team's history here, but these are things that the team at least has the capability to address. What is irritating about the recent firesale is that unlike the years around the first World Series, prior to which the attendance had declined with the expansion novelty worn off and the strike in '94, and then the immediate firesale depressing attendance in '98 and beyond, the Marlins had began to make a gradual but steady impact with the World Series and then 2 competitive seasons in 04-05, and then this happens.
  18. My friends and I quote this thing all the time. "Do you not know who I am? He must not know who I am...I'm the Juggernaut, b****!"
  19. Nope, and good luck trying to find me considering I'm registered to vote in Rhode Island and won't be back there for a few months. One of my friends here actually did get selected even though he was in school, so he didn't have to think too long to find a reason why he couldn't go.
  20. just got one This seems pretty cool, I'll add you guys later tonight.

Done with all my finals. Of course, I'm the first one done of my friends this time so there's nobody to drink with!
  22. Building the Ballpark on Bicentenial Park would be the best fit for everyone. Just to the north of the AAA, amazing amount of construction is going on there, including dozens and dozens of condos and the Performing Arts Center. Biscayne Blvd. is turning into a premier spot in South Florida. It only makes sense. Not if you live in Broward or Palm Beach.

I think I criticized him in the third game of the season for not pinch hitting for Nolasco down by 4 with the bases loaded...it's only gone downhill from there. Way downhill. Stop slurping the Yanks, Loria.

Got about 2 hours of sleep last night cause I had 2 finals today--pretty much coasting at this point cause I've just got one on Weds. and it's the one I'm probably most prepared for.
  25. Nice to see he's upbeat about it...I can't say I'd be so laid-back if I was supposed to be a first- or second-round pick and ended up almost not getting drafted at all. I'm excited to see him play for the Fins, if not this year then next.
