1. Carl's only expected to miss about 6 weeks says ESPN 898414 That's the rest of the season for the Yankees. :whistle
2. Wow that's awesome dude, have a great time!
3. Three posts, one definitely meaningless. "omgs he pwned you" - really, nobody cares. If you want to call "pwn" .. look at your teams record. A man is innocent until proven guilty. I bet if steroids wasn't the common talk this year, they wouldn't even be in the same question as a slump. Steroids wasn't that huge last year, that's when most of you say the slump started, so why did he "stop taking them" last year? I don't think it's steroids, people slump sometimes, steroids aren't always the answer to a slump. 898562 I'm pretty sure I brought this up before, but season-long slumps do happen. Case in point: Jeff Conine 1994: .319/18/82 *strike shortened 1995: .302/25/105 1996: .293/26/95 1997: .242/17/61 If Conine had his '97 season more recently, would people have thrown the steroids label on him? Lowell has had a bad season, yes...but you've got it right--innocent until proven guilty. Also note that (obviously) Conine had good seasons following the '97 season in Baltimore and here, so it's not like he was finished either.
4. Anyone here anything else on this rumor? So Selig said it was a "younger player" and that we should be the judge if he is a bigger name? So younger player means he's probably in his 20s or, at most, very early 30s. He's also very very good... that makes the list very long. 897385 The words Selig used were "very young player." To me that probably means a minor leaguer but who knows? But to say very young player sounds like early 20's, and he didn't say anything about how good the player was.
5. Any way to find out if the game will be carried elsewhere?
6. Good stuff. It's great to see Jorg get the chance to play with the big club if only for a few days--you can tell how excited he is.
7. 1-1, 0.69, 13 IP 8 HA 2 R 1 ER 2 BB 10 K He's "ok" 896871 I guess you can say the future is now.
8. I never really cared either way...to me it just seemed like change for the sake of change. But it seems like this team has been hitting better lately (before the Albuquerque invasion), for what it's worth.
9. I loved the exchange between AJ and Jack about finishing the game last night, as written in the AP account of the game: Following the eighth inning, Marlins manager Jack McKeon asked Burnett if he wanted to finish. Burnett emphatically said he did. ``Be my guest,'' McKeon said. I've always been a fan of AJ's but he's really seemed to turn a corner after the All-Star break and shown a commitment to this team, regardless of what happens in the offseason.
10. Good stuff dude...I love minor league baseball.
11. To lead off the show they had a long conversation with Bud Selig and one particular statement of his struck me. Since there is obviously a long lead time between when a player tests positive for steroids and when the suspension is announced, Wilbon asked Selig if there were any positive tests out right now where the player has not been suspended. To this Selig said, "There is one questionable test out right now on a very young player." Speculation, guys?
12. We need Enc tonight. Even if he isn't at full strength. Playing with 2 dead spots on the roster (3 if you count Lenny's inability to play the field unless in a pinch) is just catching up to everyone. 895796 Especially given the doubleheader, the flights, and no off days. These guys have to be exhausted. That being said, hopefully getting back Duca, Enc, and Carlos will give the team a big lift.
13. Now that we've got all the uh, interesting outfits out of the way... The hat that's in my sig, This shirt: Jeans, and these shoes: I hope my escort approves. :thumbup
14. I live one block from prudential center. Why dont you try to wait in that tickets line for tickets the day of the game? I went up to the counter for a day game when they were playing the indians and they had the 80 dollar seats available, but I wasnt planning on paying that so we just went to jillians 895933 I can't afford to pay $80 for tickets. The times I went to games last season I managed to get $20 seats (right field behind the bullpen vs. the Yankees, standing room/sitting in empty seats behind the plate vs. the D-Rays.) Also I don't live in Boston and can't go up there all the time...yesterday I happened to be meeting someone in Boston and brought my camera along so I could take pictures.
15. Great pics, thanks for sharing. I'd like to see a game there one day 895798 It's really awesome--I was there last year for a Sox-Yanks game on Sunday Night Baseball. Unfortunately I couldn't get any tickets this season, so I have to resort to wandering around with my camera 3 hours before the game.
16. Let's hope the other injuries we have in the lineup are similarly not that serious. We were really starting to play well when everyone was healthy.
17. OK so I was up in Boston yesterday taking some pictures (it's a hobby of mine...but now I actually have a camera), and thought I'd share some of the ones I took around Fenway. Enjoy!
18. I've decided to dump Ramp-o and I'm now going with the cooler Matt. :plain We're both wearing Hurley :w00t 895509 I support this decision wholeheartedly. :mischief
19. I'll have to wear my Hurley hat (pictured below) to the awards as a show of support, since I don't forsee myself being nominated for anything. :thumbup
20. I don't know if anyone's even heard of me... 893076 You are Passion's favorite Duke fan on here... :mischief 893087 Well, I suppose that's worth something. Is that a category? 893089 Only in my heart.... :kiss 893090 Aww, I'm blushing!
