  1. Did Hill give Andrew Friedman a Blowjob in the trade as well, or did he only just let himself get raped ?
  2. Wow it seems the Marlins really overpaid on Gordon! Haren is a wash he will never wear a Marlins Jersey Heaney, Hatcher the Pitcher, Kike, Austin Barnes Gordon needs to really become a premier lead-off hitter fast
  3. I love Dee Gordon's skillset he just needs to take a freakin BB once in awhile...If the Marlins want him to lead off the line-up he would have work to do in the area of patience and pitch recognition. His stats include a McGehee type slide last year. In His first full season he was at the all-star game. However 31 BB in 650 PA jut is atrocious for a lead-off hitter. Reference to his defense, he has shown great improvement to the point of being an average defender, although I would love to see more than 84 DP but then again his SS was H2R most of the time If the Marlins can't get Dee Gordon can they get Darwin Barney instead...then maybe not!
  4. Why not Dick Allen? Maybe another season at 1st base with the Marlins will be enough to get him that one HOF vote by the Veteran's committee A 72 y/o Dick Allen can probably still field a better 1st base and outhit a 33 y/o Garrett Jones
  5. When is the press announcement scheduled to report the signing of Solano 2.0? Did I miss it?
  6. If we were willing to give up Heaney in a deal I don't see how we couldn't have gotten Moss. I'm not saying I'd give up Heaney just for Moss but I'm saying there wasn't anything lower than Heaney but better than Weland that we could have given up? Damn. I don't think The Marlins ever ere considering offering Heaney. It appears they were never that interested in Moss. They would have gotten him if they actually wanted
  7. Frisaro is reporting The Marlins are prepared to go into the season with Kike and Solano at 2nd base (no mention of Dietrich) http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/ It appears The Marlins really like Kike
  8. I dont think he was non-tendered. He was a candidate but i think he is stilll with SD. He is on their DL
  9. After I emptied my load in her? You finally get that Viagra?
  10. I have too much responsibility in this forum. The pressure to perform is too great. Anyone get Squall some viagra
  11. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20141203&content_id=102884220&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb A little offseason overview of our below average minor league system. - I really wish Barnes would get the opportunity Solano has repeatedly gotten. - I hope Anderson can stay at second, but if the power really comes, than by all means 3B isn't a bad place. - Big year for Justin Bohn coming up. In fact, hopefully Anderson, Romero or Bohn can emerge into a top 100 guy. Would mean a lot to have a legit prospect in the infield. - Not excited about Nicolino very much at all. Anderson 3rd Base! Bohn is a John McDonald type of SS nothing flashy just gets the job done Carlos Lopez is opening a lot of eyes Viogeny has a chance of flying through the system Romero will be on the short list for call up if he hits double A pitching we are talking after the All-Star game
  12. Headley would be a difference maker for the Marlins but it appears The Marlins are being outbid by the Yankees unless they offer a 5 year deal it will not happen. It appears Hill/Jennings are reluctant to offer anything more than 3 years, Headley besides his GG defense led the league in RBIs and had 31 HRs 2 years ago (.875 OPS). All this in a pitching friendly ballpark. He had some injury problems but as soon as he put on the Yankee uniform last season his bat came alive again. I don't think it is going to be but if the Marlins could pull it off he would be a huge addition to the lineup and our infield would have an immediate improvement, he would even make Hech a better SS.
  13. Now that i'm thinking about it have I been screwing this up the entire time? Grandal is the one on the block, correct? I believe Alonso is a F/A since he was non-tendered
  14. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/non-tender-candidates-6.html I know most people are looking for a bigger splash than signing a non-tendered guy but if we had to pick a guy on this list I would be all over Yonder Alonso. I think the guy would do very well coming home. I wouldn't mind bringing in Danny Valencia
  15. Padres have no offense. He's not going anywhere. He looks to be on the Market right now... However are the Marlins a natural trading partner for the Padres to get Grandal
  16. Didn't he get hit by a PED suspension, too? Yes 50 games and also has Knee surgery prior to last season and appears well recovered from both Grandal, best known before his suspension for homering from both sides of the plate in his first major league start in 2012, is well ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in July. He's changed his batting stance - no more leg kick - to take pressure off the knee. He's catching bullpen sessions every other day and did some running in a straight line Thursday. He's set to run the bases Friday. ''It doesn't hurt,'' Grandal said. ''It's just in certain spots it's weak, the strength is not there.'' But the 25-year-old is determined to be ready for the March 30 opener against the Dodgers and join Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson with one of the fastest returns from ACL surgery. ''That was the model,'' Grandal said. ''I want to be Adrian Peterson.'' Grandal was hurt in a home-plate collision July 6, barely a month after he rejoined the Padres following a 50-game suspension for a positive test of elevated testosterone levels. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Padres-Grandal-returning-from-suspension-surgery-46084259
  17. Let me throw another name out... Yamani Grandal is available for trade 1. Can play 1st base as well as catch 2. Local Miami kid 3. Cuban 4. Has huge power potential (15 HRs 377 ABs pitcher friendly park) 5. Switch-hitter BTW OBP was .365 after 2nd half of the season and is killing the Dominican Winter League right now There are reports that his defense has shown significant improvement I don't care about him as a Catcher I would love to make him an every day 1st baseman
  18. Yelich at 3rd base...Huh? My sources tell me Squall has been sipping too much on the eggnog lately
  19. Willie McCovey/Orlando Cepeda for me but if not I would settle for Trumbo
  20. I understand where you are coming from. I sort of feel if he progresses at the same rate he will be the same statistically as Barnes. Maybe he gains a little power, maybe he gets a little more discipline and boom we have the same statistics. I also think Barnes should be in the running for the middle infield spot this year. The poor guy just needs to stay at one position. I just can't imagine him as a major league catcher but could see him as a utility infielder. That maybe is what the Marlins would like him to be a utility player who can be the 3rd catcher
  21. No. I honestly think that most people's problem with him stem from the almost 7 million that he is going to make in arb next year. That's completely impractical when the team budget is 65 million. I love the guy but it's a business decision in my opinion. 7 million for a quality closer is a bargain in any economy
  22. The Marlins have a great Bullpen and Cishek is the glue that keeps it together. I get the feeling that many would prefer a closer who throws gas at 110 mph Consider this....Cishek problem is that he makes it look too easy. As a Marlin since 2011 he has 10 blown saves in 101 save opportunities, He is at 91% save% add the 16 holds to his numbers and his effectiveness is even more eye-popping Compare to Leo Jose Oviedo Nunez who had many more save opportunities in his 3 years as the Marlins closer had an 81% save rate Prior to Nunez/Oviedo our closer was Kevin Gregg 2007-2008 with 62 saves with save% rate of 82% 2006 Joe Borowski was our closer with 36 saves His save rate was almost 84% 2005 Todd Jones had a great season with 40 saves However his save rate 88% You have to go all the way back to 2004 season to Armando Benitez and his 47 saves and save rate of 92.2% to find a Marlin who has been more reliable as a closer 2003 Braden Looper....82% save rate 2002 Vladimir Nunez.....71% (Looper had 13 saves 81%) 2001 Antonio Alfonseca...82% In 2000 Alfonseca had a incredible season 45 saves 91.8 save rate 1999 Antonio Alfonseca...84% (Matt Mantei had 10 saves 83%) 1998 Closer by committee Mantei 9 saves 75% / Alfonseca 8 saves 57% 1997 Robb Nen.......83% (My all time favorite Closer) 1996 Robb Nen.......83% 1995 Robb Nen......79% 1994 Robb Nen 15 saves 100% / Jeremy Hernandez 9 saves 75% / Bryan Harvey 6 saves 100% 1993 Bryan Harvey 45 saves 91.8% save rate If I were Hills/Jennings it would take an awful lot to get me to trade Cishek
  23. That's his 2014. I stated I was talking about his 2013. I noticed,,, He was a very reliable pitcher last year
  24. 10-10 record 191 INP 3.81 ERA 0.8 HR/9 153 K/71 BB .248 AVG 2.5 WAR Pretty amazing stats for a 5th starter I would say In fact probably compares favorably to majority of 3rd starter in MLB I would say would not fall below the mean but if anyone wants to check they are welcome
  25. That's what I mean. Koehler was good last year, but he was barely a passable #5 in 2013. Which is going to show up next year? How many number 5 starters were better than Koehler? I can tell you right now the number will not reach 10. He pitched more like a mid rotation starter
