Torre Rejects One-Year Deal From Yankees
I wonder how much the offer was worth... Was he lowballed or does he want to just be done with it all?

Orioles hire Rick Kranitz
Anibal wasn't abused? Surprised he didn't go to whereever Girardi's going. I kind of assumed that Girardi and Kranitz would be with the Yankees next year. The Yankees will likely outbid us for Mazzone.

Braves make it official
It's too bad the Marlins won't sign him either. I hope the Dodgers go after him, idiots shouldn't have paid Juan Pierre like they did.

Letters for Jeff Conine
Jeff, this is Robert Jamison, Phil Jamison's nephew. You were my idol as a kid. Your mom used to always make sure I got autographed cards when you were in the minors. Aside from your parents, I probably have the largest Jeff Conine card, ball, and newspaper clipping collection on the planet. You inspired me to reach for my dreams and not to ever give up. Your career has been one of the main inspirations for many aspects of my life and I just wanted to say thank you for showing myself and countless others that determination and hard work do pay off. God bless you and your family as you move into the next stage of your life.

Marlins Firing Pitching Coach
Kevin Brown will never come to Miami as a pitching coach. Have you counted the number of times he's KOed a Gatorade cooler over a bloop single? Imagine the reaction he'd have when an asshat in a nice suit tells him he need to handle his pitchers differently. He couldn't and wouldn't work with Beinfest or Loria.

Owens to See Dr. Andrews, surgery and out til next season
Why do you guys think Kranitz got his job? (I'm not being sarcastic at all.) Do you think it was mainly due to his being "next in line" with the Cubs for so long and the fact that three of the guys that were supposed to be in last year's rotation (Willis, Mitre, Nolasco) all came out of the Cubs' system? Did his relationship with Girardi play a major role? Did he have someone else politicking for him? Personally I can't see why he would be counted on any further. He served one rung below Admin Rothschild, the guy who has had stars such as Kerry Wood and Mark Prior have their health deteriorate for whatever reason. Now look at the health of the Marlins' staff this season. Something is wrong- the strength and conditioning program, healthcare, etc. for these guys simply MUST be lacking some fundamental aspect.

Owens to See Dr. Andrews, surgery and out til next season
Mr. Carlos Enrique Nolasco reports that he hasn't felt better in at least a full calendar year and that surgery is completely out of the equation. He also said he would be back up here by Tuesday. That was 2 or 3 weeks ago. I mean, Sanchez also said he was feeling fine. Until AFTER he got sent down. From what I have read, Ricky's velocity hasn't been consistent. And he did get shelled his first start in AAA. Nothing against Mr. Carlos Enrique Nolasco, but I think concern about his health is well justified. Concern is one thing, spreading rumors about needing surgery is another.
