  1. I never liked the sleeveless look. I actually think the current unis are sharp and are among the better looking ones in the league. Too much teal in the old uniforms, the all teal hats and helmets were ridiculous looking. For proclaiming to be Marlin Nation, your pretty ignorant on facts. The Teal Hat and Sleeves were abandoned in 1995, and the Teal/Black hat was last seen in 1996. Hints of teal are great in this uniform---the teal stripes, teal crest. The Teal Sleeves and Caps are great as a novelty. Maybe every thursday home game during the season would have been nice. Call it Throwback Thursday--- A whole lot better then "Hispanic Friday", and that god awful LOS patch. It looks like someone forgot how to spell the abbreviation for Captain. (C for those wondering).
  2. lol am I the only one who sees that Hanley totally missed that ball You say missed the ball, I say he protected his. I'll give him a pass, lol.
  3. The thing is, while I do enjoy them, it seems like most of you love this miles ahead of today's current unis. But, essentially, they're the same besides the teal lettering and the sleeves... why such a disparity in liking today's unis vs those unis? Or am I misinterpreting this wrong? Misinterpretation- These unifroms had a single piece of style too it, which was a explosion of color on the crest. Those jerseys had teal pinstripes, awesome teal twill on the logo, and a splash of color on the sleeves with the black and sleeve logo. Currently, the whole thing is the Oakland Raiders of Baseball, or the White Sox of the national league. Black Pinstripes, Black Logo, some tealish color on the crest, and a little of sparkle on the silver. While the concept remained the same, the execution and colors changes--and in my opinion for the worse. Some color made the uniforms worthy, now the black makes them dreary and dead to me.
  4. Y2k Happened, 11 years late! AHHHHHHHHH
  5. My favorite Marlins jersey by far. (PS, anyone know where to get the undershirts?) I made my own, bought a black shirt and a patch and had it sewn on. Thanks Admin, I might have to do that. Now it's a hunt to find a teal shirt as well that matches. Too bad they couldn't keep these as an alternate, Hanley and Dan look like actual marlins in those jerseys. Wasn't this the last year Cabs played for us too? 2007? I wish i could find a picture of him, although I did see one of Aaron Boone rocking the Vest on the field.
  6. Sweet, I was there, I remember being there, a memorable occasion. Quick question, were the pinstripes teal or black? Teal. Teal. All jerseys from that era had teal as well.
  7. How awesome was this to watch back in 2007. They wore them on June 14th 07 against the Indians to commerate their 1997 WS win. (PS, anyone know where to get the undershirts?)
  8. I was going to write something, but I'll wait and write a article. Some cool ideas that will never happen though.
  9. Anybody want the jersey for $55 shipped. I spent almost double when I bought it, but I found a 48 and it's on it's way. The size 52 is like a big XL or a XXL. I have paypal. I can't wait to get the other one customized. Make an offer if your interested at a different price.
  10. Hawk Fan, let me know. If it is then perfect for us both. Thanks for checking either way! Yeah, he wore the home. He was traded the day of the sleeveless, BUT i found HIS actual sleeveless jersey at auction. Game issued but never worn. I have pics of it, but the auction ended two months ago. Wow, that's pretty awesome. Do you know how much it went for? I know I've seen some cards in the past w/ swatches of pinstriped gam-worn jersey. I'll let you know tomorrow about the jersey. W/ Christmas and all we've been running non-stop today. It's fine, take your time. The jersey bidding went for $400 I believe, but I think it had a unreached reserve. I know of the jersey cards you are talking about. I actually have a bunch of them. 47 total Piazza Marlins cards to be exact. I found out two things in my searches. 1st, the piazza swatches on the cards are his actual game used sleeved Marlins jersey, since the Sleeveless I was worried the cards were made of is still intact. The teal pinstripe is the giveaway that it's a marlisn jersey too. Second is that another company (Fleer) got their hands on his Marlins game used pants. In 2002, they made cards with his pants and the teal stripes, but were marketed as mets cards. So Mets logo, Marlins pants. I have no clue where his Grey Used jersey is, but I have a great feeling it' is in his personal collection, as no pieces of his crest or numbers have surfaced on a card or otherwise. LMK what's up tommorrow, and if you can get a picture of the jersey it'd be great. Thanks again, Chris.

  12. I updated the 1st post, I forgot I also had the Current Black one. No Sleeve Logo. It has the MLB logo on the neck.
  13. Hey fella's Just bumping this and editing it instead of a new thread---anyone have a Jeremy Hermida jersey they'd like to sell or trade? I'm looking for either the home or alternate. Thanks! I have this jersey below, the black alternate, and a size 52 Pinstripe Alternate from 2003 (the F logo one). Thanks! Current Black Jersey, if your interested in that. It's a Big Large, Small XL. Right in the middle. Replica with sewn on crests and logo. http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac23/cfern023/Jerseys/SAM_1420.jpg
  14. Um, is he still allowed to play amatuer sports after he was a paid athlete?
  15. Anybody else dreading the summers of 2013 and 2014? Isn't that the summers Stanton, Morrison , Coughlan, Sanchez are all arbitration eligible, as well as that the summers Buck/Nolasco/JJ/Hanley all come off the book?
  16. I do like the "teal" color the team is using now, but I'm definitely not against other options. Only thing is once loria has decided then thats it. The unknown is scary. Who knows what combinations will be chosen. I have a feeling that whatever comes out will look fine, but I'll still be upset about losing the teal. I'll be honest, i haven't seen the marlins sell a teal anything since about 2003. No lie. I don't think I've gone to the team store and seen a single teal item other then the new era caps. Neon Green, Orange, Blue, Red, Yellow, Grey, Black shirts--- but no teal. Just saying. Don't get me started on Champs, Sports Authority, Dicks, Modells, or any other retail store. New game. First person to find a teal marlins shirt at a retail store gets a cookie. It could be on clearance, but must show the price tag.
  17. I thought Turkolu was coming off the bench, with the others starting.
  18. I'll be honest, I dislike the new uniforms they have worn since the 2003 WS. I liked the Alternate they introduced, with the F Logo when they went to it, but the other uniforms were so bland. Ironically, the one I like is the current Marlins Road in grey. It looks great. If this conversation were between the uniform in my signature (1993-2002 Uniform Set) I'd be extremely pissed. The original uni's in 1993 (Sleeveless Teal, Sleeveless Black, Grey Road, White Pinstripe Home, Teal Cap, Teal/Black Cap, Current Cap) were a great set, but were dated once the other 20 teams in the league went to a sleeveless look. As it is, moving from what we have now to what were going to have is an exciting time for me. I can't wait to see what colors I will be rooting for, and what way they do it. I dislike the Raiders look we have now, and anything to me is an improvement. Don't you see it like that? Don't get me wrong. I love the teal and always have, however given how little it is used I can't wait to see some COLOR on our uniforms. ANY color will do. Periwinkle anyone?
  19. What happened to CJ? I'm not too caught up on what happened after he was traded for Juan Pierre.
  20. In addition to the uniform color changes? The color coded sections discussed in this thread. The objections toward both have nothing to do with the final look of their implementation. And I think you are misunderstanding my point here. I'm not critiquing the final look of these things. The uniforms might look fine and the Red Grooms piece might look fine. That's irrelevant. I'm not talking about the final product. Instead I'm critiquing Loria's heavy emphasis on the art angle when planning the stadium, which is he seems to be giving greater weight over baseball. The art might look good in the end, but we that doesn't address the fact that the park is starting to fulfill a dual role as an art gallery. He is changing the uniform colors not because he has to but because it satisfies his personal tastes. The fans seem to want teal. The amount of public funding going into this project suggests that he should be more open to fan preferences rather than focusing on his own art fetish. And again, the final product won't affect my opinion either way. I feel that teal is an integral part to this franchise's identity, so if it is removed no alternative becomes satisfactory. In other words, none of this has to do with surface appearance as you seem to be suggesting. Tell me if I'm misunderstanding you again. What I got from that is this: 1. You don't like the idea of having the amount of art Loria seems to be putting in the stadium. 2. You feel that that due to the public funds Loria is using he should be more on the fans side of issues such as team colors. If thats right, both are understandable. I don't like art. Almost all of it is pretty stupid in my eyes. I just don't see the appeal. Yet I'm not upset at whats happened with the stadium so far when it comes to the art. I might have missed one but so far the art I have heard about is the (hopefully not hideous) home run feature, the letters outside the stadium, and this color coded section thing (I really don't see why this is bad. Its just like assigning colors to a parking garage so you know where you're parked. Green section 42 or whatever. Yeah yeah thats not the real reason Loria is doing it but on the surface there is no difference.) That doesn't seem like too much to me. Definitely not enough art to say that Loria is putting more emphasis on art than on baseball. Now, if there is a statue of some naked dude with curly hair and a tiny manhood every 50 ft then I will have a problem. But I haven't read anything that suggests the entire stadium is going to be filled to the brim with art. For points 1 and 2...yes, that is pretty much it. Again, I love contemporary art. I love Miro. I simply object to such a marriage between that and baseball. I'm also aggravated by the fact that Loria seems so unresponsive to fan requests. I can understand not wanting to put in teal seats, but to be ignoring the overwhelming desire among the fanbase to retain teal in the logos and uniforms seems very selfish to me. Yes, he owns the team, but following that one request isn't that restrictive. He will still have all the freedom he wants to design the scripts, logos, and everything else having to do with the uniforms. Not to be that guy but with the focus groups he brought in, wasn't it made of fans or just regular joes? I though I read it was a Fan based group and they took there advise and have kept tweaking their ideas.
  21. Congrats to both on what should be their first and last year on the ballot. If CJ could have sustained his numbers from his first 5 years or so he would be a great choice, sadly he didn't. As for Benny, with the release of the Mitchell report we now all know why he got such a great second half to his career, but again his first few years were great. How much longer until the greatest catcher in Marlins history (Piazza) goes on the ballot? Mike Piazza gets inducted in 2013!
  22. Again, lets wait and see what the final product is like before hating it. That might be true with the Red Grooms piece, but not true for some of the other things. The new uniforms might look fine but it will be hard to come to terms with the fact that teal might no longer be a dominant color (according to Loria), which has been absolutely iconic for this franchise. The very idea of that warrants dissatisfaction. You do realize the teal in the current jerseys isn't even teal. It's Creole Blue or something like that. They eliminated teal three years ago and moved to a bluer color.
  23. No way in hell he gets in, but he was one of the best then.
  24. Too much, I hope he signs for less.
  25. How the hell are the cav's selling out lol.
