I was called a racist by Das Texan for stating an observation. I do not appreciate mudslinging and I am sure the site doesn't as well. I take offense to what he said to me and something should be done about it. Here is the quote: "just say what you mean...the phillies have a lot of WHITE players you damn racist. " With what he wrote, it is not only derogatory but very offensive to me. He is forcing words into what I said that I would never even think of. Lowell should not get 9 mill, because he's not a 40 HR hitter every year. He will hit 25-30 and bat .275. Thats not a 9 million type of player. Mr. Marlin makes 6 million for 2 years. not 5+5. Our bench played a HUGE role in todays game and I for one must admit I was wrong about Lenny Harris. I know its only 4AB's but hes looked like he knows what hes doing up there. Laying off on down and away and taking some solid cuts. GW also proved his worth with a SB, although a good throw would have nailed him. *My star of the game is Mordy...What an intelligent player. 4 abs is alot for a PH role. My projection was just about right. 5 abs at most we lose for giving him a roster spot. Looks like those 4 abs so far were a total success. It turned out to be a good move, and there wasn't much to lose in the first place from aug 26 or whenever he was called up, to Sept. 1st.

Mike Redmond has played 3B once in his career, an inning or two in an 11-run loss to the Rangers (he didn't start that game - Fox did). Redmond can be our designated 3B in 11-run losses. Hopefully we don't have any of those situations come up the rest of the year. Don Mattingly played more at 3B than Mike Redmond has and Mattingly was left-handed (and still is, I suppose). now thats comedy

No, you don't. Or at least, if your GM is competent you don't. Look at the deals around the league made for similar players. Rondell White. Eric Young. Aaron Boone. Raul Mondesi. Jeromy Burnitz. Jose Guillen. None of those teams traded their best pitching prospect to acquire those players (many of whom are better than Conine). The Pads barely gave up more to land Brian Giles! Hey, if Lowell's sudden injury causes teams to grossly overcharge...then don't trade! It's not worth it...at least, not for Jeff Conine. This is similar to an argument that I had with posters on the MLB board about Clement/AA deal (which we ended up getting Willis in). Here, we had to make a deal by midnight - we had very little time and yes, Conine was the best 'available' hitter eligible to be traded. We couldnt really get much else to play LF. ANd if you remember, we were working on deals for both White and Drew not too long ago - but chose not to give up prospects for them either. Why would we all of a sudden pull the trigger on this deal? Desperation, we were going to be had, but considering how bad it could have gotten we didnt do too bad. Just wait til Conine suits up, you will see a huge lift for this ball club. Jonny, Bautista will be better than Willis. This just shows the incompetence of Beinfest at the other trading deadline and all of August to not get us insurance just in case something like this happened. If he would have chosen to get one of those and platoon them with Cabrera (who is 0 for past 23 until today) this would not have been as big an issue. Castro can catch and Pudge can play LF or even 3rd. Cabrera only played 1 game in the minors of LF until being called up. Pudge has been shagging balls at both positions for a while. Its not the ideal move, but it is an option. Its not the best option though.

When I played 1 year of my HS football there was this chick on some team in some school up in broward that we had a scrimage against. She was a kicker though. I was playing on that special teams play and rushed in from the outside and I actually laid the smack down on her. I got some of the deflection though, not all of it. None of us knew it was a girl even after I rushed in and put a lick on her. Later after the game I found out when she took off her helmet.. it looked like a wimpy guy though because of the no makeup and the messed up short hair. theres also girls on wrestling teams. I hear they are mostly in the 103 lb division and alot of them kick guys a**.

ok kid there is no transition from your little league, same s***, diffrerent name, yto mlb every1 can play every position I don't play little league. I'm not 10-years-old. Go to a travel baseball game, or a HS game. In travel and HS ball, everyone has played their position and learned their position their entire baseball lives. It's hard to transition to a new position after playing a certain position your whole life, whether it be high school or the pros. Like I've said, I think you're under estimating the playing level of travel baseball. Kids are at times clocked at 90. Our fastest pitcher gets up to 85. 14-year-olds hit tape measure shots, up to 410 (that I've seen personally). talk about exaggerating... You make it sound like the FSL lol. stop BSing us and lay off the personal s*** ok? As far as I know, anything thats not amatuer ball or semi pro, or pro, or FSHAA high school ball, college ball, etc is a LITTLE LEAGUE. ANYbody that is under 15 and plays in the local traveling team is LITTLE LEAGUE ball player. Stop trying to sound like you're some type of grizzled veteran.
