NL Final Vote
I went with Carlos Lee, I figured it would be fun to see him in the Home Run Derby.

First Half Grades
What grade would you give Fredi Gonzalez? Maybe a B-, I just don't like how he manages a ballclub. For one he is way to passive with the umpires and his pitchers. Also I don't like how he assembles the lineups. For example in LA, one night after John Baker had a very good game (hit his 1st major league homer), Fredi becnhes him for Hoover who stinks up the place.

The society we live in.
We're all watching the Derby. Doesn't anyone else find it funny how everyone is calling Josh Hamilton a "great story?" Does he deserve credit for overcoming his drug problem? Yes. But...he did take drugs...right? Meanwhile, other players who have NEVER been caught for taking drugs...aren't "better stories?" What about Dan Uggla? Performed in the minors, yet the DBacks had prospects who they thought were better...Uggla was selected by the Marlins in the Rule V Draft, and has worked his tail off to get to the big leagues, I'm sure...not a big deal? Uggla should've told ESPN he took some weed...he'd probably have the advantage of going last now, since he would've been such a "great story." In a society where the motto is, "Say No To Drugs" (supposedly), Hamilton is getting more credit than the other guys, when he actually took drugs, in the first place. Forgive the other players for not making the dumb decisions he made when he was younger. The other players' stories are, most likely, just as good. Are you kidding??? As much as I am a Marlin fan and a Dan Uggla fan, his story is in no comparison to Hamilton's. Uggla's is a nice one from a baseball standpoint, but Hamilton's is great from a life standpoint. At the end of the day baseball is not important, it's your health, and your families health. Yeah he took drugs, which is wrong, but he overcame something that few people in this world can these days. He is a role model not only with his baseball skills, but with his character, and how in everyone of his interviews he gives all of the glory to God. This man took about 5 years off, and he comes back is the front-runner for American League MVP. What I saw tonight and throughout the season shows that he is not only one of the best players in the game today, but he could be one of the greatest of all-time.

Re-Acquire Willis?
I would like it, he is comfortable here, and maybe he can find the magic he had in 03' and 05'.

7/10/08 Texas-Angels Fan Catch?

Miller's Clearly Not Ready
It's amazing how many fairweather fans there are on this board. In April, it was like..."SEND HIM DOWN TO THE MINORS!" In May, it was like..."Miller is gonna be a stud!" Now, that he's somewhat struggling again (mind you, ONE BALL was hit hard in that inning), it's..."SEND HIM DOWN TO THE MINORS!" Give me a break. Make up your mind, already. I agree with all of those statements, Miller is gonna be a stud, but he may need a little work in AA.

Kevin Gregg
After that series in Colorado, Gregg has been lights out as the closer and showing that he can still get the job done. I noticed during last night's game, some people were starting to worry when Gregg came in to finish and he ended up getting 4 strikeouts in one inning. So do we all go back to believing in Kevin Gregg again, or shall it ever be time to reach for a bottle of Pepto Bismol when he comes in? He didn't get 4 K's.

Torrealba, Fuentes to Marlins??
I think Gregg is back, maybe Fuentes to set-up. I really don't like Torrealba, the Fish should just go after a low-end option like David Ross to split time with John Baker.

7/10/08 Texas-Angels Fan Catch?
To be honest, I wasn't that impressed. If he dove or something, then maybe, but all he did was catch an easy fly ball.

VOLSTAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
great game by chris. toot your marlins horn. MFS 2008 Umm. Thanks for stealing my sig.

Where does the Marlins rotation rank?
I don't want to "jump the gun" on this one Too late. Seriously guys, it's been 3 quality starts in a row ... let's not get carried away. Give it a few more months and then we'll see where these guys rank. For the past 2-3 years we have imagined what the roation would be like if we have everyone healthy, and the guys from the minors in the majors. Well we just about have that right now.?

Fish of the Game 7/11
Do you really have to put the other guys on that list, Volstad is head and shoulders above everyone.

Where does the Marlins rotation rank?
I don't want to "jump the gun" on this one, but the Marlins rotation is stacked with talent. Where do they rank in the division and in the NL? I got to put them ahead of the Phillies. The Phills do have Hamels, but we have 5 pitchers who have the potential to be better than Hamels each and every night. Other than Hamels, and Moyer (Only when he faces the Fish), they are kinda weak. Myers is terrible, and Kendrick is solid but anything speical. The Mets have a decent one, after Johan they are weak. Pedro has not been that good, and John Maine is still not bad. The Braves and Nats are weak. The Braves have Jurrjens and Hudson but no one else really.

Who should we trade for??
how about fuentes and torrealba for gregg and maybin?? Hey are you Steve Phillips?
-
Marlins interested in Willy Taveras?
Let's be real here, Ross is not gonna keep this pace up. I hope I am wrong about that, but lets be honest. Willy is a good speed guy, who can really make pitchers lives a living hell on the base paths. Maybe it will be like Pierre/Castillo with Willy/Hanley.
-
Jonathan Fulton?
Has he been moved to being a pitcher. Does anyone know what happened?
-
Who should we trade for??
I went with relief pitching. A name that the Fish might go after is Ron Mahay of the Royals. He is a former Marlin, and it wouldn't be a huge deal, but just a solid guy in the pen. He is 5-0, with a 1.87 ERA.
-
We are so damn lucky.
I really don't know how that is lucky. Half of having a good team is having good luck.
-
Interest in Torrealba Gains Speed
The way Paul hit in Miami showed me that he still can hit. He's great with runners on base, something that Matt Treanor is terrible at. He can hit everywhere in the order. Also we wouldn't have to give up as much, as we would for Torreabla.
