Future Corner IF
Who are they? Dallas McPherson at third...Gaby Sanchez is a first-base prospect with a much longer way to go than McPherson. Cantu might be the first baseman of the near future, with Dallas taking over third.

Jeremy Hermida
Most high-value prospects would be looking at a rookie year right now. I also think that the Marlins are f***ing with his plate approach trying to make him disciplined, and as a result they are turning walks into Ks, the Reds did the same thing to Paul O'Neill and he didn't flourish until he got away from them and was allowed to approach the game on his terms. I thought they told him he was being too patient in the minors and wanted him to be more aggressive.

Jeremy Hermida
2) Go to the stadium. Wait till they announce Jeremy...the ladies love cool J. LOL--What is the deal with that? It wasn't like that the last few years. I haven't been to Miami this year, but I saw on tv some teenagers wearing "Hermida's Hotties" tank tops (Which is a total knockoff of Horford's Hotties). And they might have been the same girls I saw at the Trop last month with teal halter tops that said Hermida on the back. I guess every team needs a hearthrob. I'm more of an Amezaga girl But back to the point, Jeremy got into a groove at the plate in the second half last year. I wouldn't give up on him just yet. And I like that he's not all about power. When he runs into a homer, you can tell that he does have some serious power, but he doesn't make that his whole game -- that's a good thing. Jake will never learn plate discipline, and I'd rather see Cantu playing first and Dallas at third.

Jeremy Hermida
while Hermida never runs full speed in the outfield, Ks to much, and the only good thing is his arm cause he does not give you 20 Hr, will not drive you in 100 RBI, and cant hit .300 and does not steal bases. hey goofy, last year in only 120 games he hit 18 HRs and batted .296. As a 23 year old in his full season. He is struggling this year but at the all star break he has 10 homeruns. Stop the nonsense. Yeah, 120 games is not a full season. Missed the first month and a half after fouling a ball off his knee in spring training. He really picked it up in the second half, though.

Jeremy Hermida
Keep in mind Jake's OBP is .280! Hanley and Uggla's batting averages are higher than that! Herm's OBP is much better at .326. He always looks bored and probably lacks heart, but Hermida has the ability to work the count and get on base via the walk. Jake swings for the fences in every at-bat, and when he does walk, it's usually intentional. And I think Jeremy's defense has improved drastically over the last few years (and has a pretty good arm). Jake...not so much.

We better have 30,000 on Friday against the Phillies
Not helping is the story on the front page of today's Miami Herald. don't go overboard with 40k, 30k would be great. That story by Barry Jackson was a weak and superficial article. It has no depth and does not provide the unknowing with any balance of the situation. It's like Barry wrote the article as a Braman employee. Ugh, that story was in the Bradenton Herald today too. The headline was "Gone fishing for Marlins...fans." I'm so sick of this. There's nothing I can do about it because I haven't lived in South Florida since 1990. I'd have season tickets if I still lived there...bad weather and all. It kills me that I can't help attendance. I want to see 30,000 on FOX for the Saturday game. The last Marlins home game I was able to attend was around this time last summer with my dad. It was a Super Saturday and the crowd was almost reminiscent of Marlins attendance of the early to mid 90s...but of course, it was because of Barry Bonds. It's just infuriating because they're such a fun team to watch, especially at home there's always a chance to see a walk-off. Please, if you live in South Florida, find a way to get to the games this weekend...this is a crucial time to prove Braman and all the haters wrong.

Marlins FO willing to trade Jake for reliever
I want Joakim Soria and his disgusting 67-mph curveball.

D-Train and Ramon Hernandez?
What is this? Friendly ribbing?

Cabrera's Intentional Hit
That was one of the greatest game that I have ever seen. I believe Helms and Borchard went back to back to tie it up in the ninth. I thin it was Easley and Borchard...what a great game. BALTIMORE -- They may not yet be the "Miracle Marlins," but what this underdog team did Thursday night was downright miraculous. One out away from defeat in the ninth inning, the Marlins received back-to-back pinch-hit home runs by Joe Borchard and Wes Helms to force extra innings. Then in the 10th inning, Miguel Cabrera swatted an RBI single to center on what was supposed to be an intentional walk. The amazing string of events propelled Florida to an improbable 8-5 win over Baltimore at a stunned Camden Yards. Scotty was pitching... Yeah, Easley hasn't been a Marlin in forever, but I was too lazy to prove it. Thanks.

Marlins FO willing to trade Jake for reliever
Orestes Destrade just said he spoke with Marlins Assistant GM Dan Jennings. With JJ back and Sanchez not far behind, the FO is okay with the rotation, but Jennings told Destrade they would be willing to trade a big bopper like Mike Jacobs for an adequate reliever. Holy crap!!!!!

Cabrera's Intentional Hit
Last year. I still have that game on TiVo. Wasn't this in 2006 ? The Girardi year ? no, this game was last year against the Orioles, the Fredi Era. No, it's from 2006, the Girardi year. I know because I remember, and I am reassured because of this New York Times article about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/24/sports/b...rera.html?fta=y Joe Girardi, the former Yankees player and coach who is in his first season as the Marlins' manager, said he did not expect Cabrera to swing. "Yes, it did surprise me because I've never seen it," Girardi said. "I'm not sure I'll ever see it again, either." Girardi said he used to sit next to the Yankees' former coach Don Zimmer, who had many decades of baseball experience, and occasionally ask him after odd occurrences: "You ever see that?" and Zimmer would tell him no. "It worked out really well for us," Girardi added. "You've got to tip your hat to Miguel Cabrera for being ready."

Cabrera's Intentional Hit
The opposite to that was Johnny bench for the Reds, they had a full count on a batter and decided to walk him, bench stand and give the walk sign with his hand stretch out and just before the pitch was release he jump back behind the plate and the pitcher throw a strike and the batter was still standing with the bat on his shoulder. Pretty sure he got away with breaking a rule there. I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure as long as he remained behind the plate, whether standing or crouching, he was within t he rules Bench was actually the batter who got fooled by the Oakland A's.

Hank Aaron and Willie Mays on HBO
What did he say to the crew member? It wasn't really what he said, but how he said it. He said something like, "Hold ONNNN, Nick!" He sounded really cranky and agitated after spending the last two hours talking to living legends. Life is so hard for him.

Marlins-Cubs on TBS July 27
Why are the national broadcasters so obnoxious? Three hours of Chip Caray? No thanks. I just suffered five hours (actually, six including the introductions) of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver on Tuesday. I'll be watching Rich and Tommy's broadcast. Although, earlier this season we had a game against the Phillies on TBS. I watched it on FSNFlorida, but when Jake hit both of his home runs off Moyer, I briefly flipped over to TBS out of curiosity. You just know on Saturday's FOX broadcast, they're gonna replay and relive Uggla's rough night at the ASG. I hope Tommy's the color analyst instead of McCarver...why won't he die already?

Steve Phillips Comment
We need more Orestes Destrade on Baseball Tonight! I actually like his input, and it's not just the fact that he was an original Marlin. Steve Phillips has always annoyed me. He's always like "When I was GM of the Mets..." And I'm thinking, When you were GM of the Mets, you traded Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano, you dumb f***. Why should I, or anyone else, take anything you say seriously?? But it's true that early in the season, Steve Phillips said, "These Marlins are for real." I appreciated that, but then we went on a losing streak. Thanks, Steve.

Cabrera's Intentional Hit
OMG, this totally made my day! This is seriously my FAVORITE "Miggy as a Marlin" moment. It even tops his WS homer off Clemens, IMO (by a thread). I just remember watching this from my apartment in college a few summers ago. I was falling asleep watching it, and then, BOOM! Miggs hit that intentional ball and I went nuts. That moment, to me, is the epitome of what I love about Miggy, the Marlins, and baseball in general. It was so heads-up and just pure awesomeness. I've been searching for this clip forever, so thanks for sharing it!

Hank Aaron and Willie Mays on HBO
Did anyone watch the town hall forum on HBO tonight? Dave Winfield, Jim Palmer, (Pete Rose via satellite), and Bob Gibson had a lot to say. There was also an interesting segment with Jimmy Rollins (who Hank Aaron and Willie Mays teased relentlessly), Todd Jones and Evan Freaking Longoria -- who did alright for a 22-year-old totally out of his element. HBO continued the show on HBO.com after 10:30. I wanted to hear more from Aaron and Mays, so I logged on. It was the best part of the show, and it dragged on even longer because Mays was lively and had more stories to tell. When they wrapped the online after-show, the producer let Bob Costas (who is such an ass-kisser) know that the online segment was so intriguing that it would be made a show in itself to later be aired on HBO. The online feed was still going as Costas announced what was happening and that everyone needed to stay put so he could shoot the promo. Costas briefly left the stage, but little did he know that he had a hot mic. I heard him berate a crew member shortly before the feed cut out. After two hours of watching the ever-careful douche bag kiss the living legends' asses...it was a fitting ending for Costas. Mays and Aaron = awesome. Bob Costas = lame

Marlins Interested in Pudge?
It ain't true. Another made up piece by Barry Jackass. Hey don't be hatin'...he's a good guy, my dad knows him.

Marlins Interested in Pudge?
Though the Marlins would gladly add a piece or two, executive Admin Beinfest cautioned, ``We have to keep an eye on the chemistry -- that's a big part of why this team has been successful. While all the numbers don't add up, they play great together as a group.'' I love you Beinfest. haha I thought the same thing. He doesn't get it, but he gets it.

Poor Dan
I feel so awful for him. Probably wants to crawl under a rock. I hope he doesn't let it get to him. Gotta be real tough mentally to block that out.

All Access: Dan Uggla on Sports Center
muahaha Utley choked and they're trying to stick up for him. Eat your words, Kruk! Bet half of those outs would have been homers at Citizens Bank. Yeahhhh
-
All Access: Dan Uggla on Sports Center
Yeah I saw that. I love how they have him going first...the other 7 will have to catch up to him. The ESPN guys' picks are ridiculous. Uggs better shut them up. Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips, STFU...NOW

Re-Acquire Willis?
Hell no. At this rate, he's gonna try to come back to the majors as a hitter a la Rick Ankiel. That would'nt be a bad idea... I was thinking the same thing...but what position could he play? The Tigers have enough first basemen...he would have to get into his 2003 shape to play OF. But there's no sight quite like the D-Train in the batter's box. As for a Fish reunion, maybe once the ballpark opens....

Official 2008 Home Run Derby Thread
Didn't Morneau embarrass himself in the Derby last year? Why do it again?
