I dont see what makes the article awful. I love the Marlins. I love baseball. But our front office is a bunch of crooks. The city streets are filled with the blood that they shed when they stole millions from taxpayers by lying over and over again about profits and revenue sharing. Then they promise one thing and do another. They are crooks. I'm so tired of the misplaced anger.... Filled with blood?? LOL. First of all, money wasn't stolen...unless you consider politicians agreeing to take tax money from tourists to build a stadium stealing. Second, what promises did they break? To spend money? They did...they just spent it wrong. Are they required to keep spending money on bad players just because of the new stadium? This is where I disagree with the loud, angry, Marlins fan. The stadium ensures we'll have a baseball team forever...that's it. It doesn't ensure keeping every player or spending endless dollars. Circumstances change. Hanley wasn't worth his contract. Just because they got a stadium built, doesn't require them to have to keep someone that is not performing. Be angry that the front office has done a bad job for a long time, but please, enough with the over dramatic "the owners are crooks" talk. It's just dumb. They wanted to win. Do you honestly they WANTED to do this this season?? So go ahead and yell, scream, and complain, but at least scream about the right thing. I agree 100%. All bandwagon Marlins fans want a winner now. Loria/Samson spent on the team like they promised. The city hasn't filled the stadium as they should. Only one sellout for a new ballpark with the amount of talent this team had is pathetic. And since Loria/Samson know the only way to increase attendance is by winning, they are making some roster moves in order to save some money and win in the future. I truly believe Loria/Samson are both committed to building a consistent winning ball club in Miami.

Really don't like this trade at all. I'm not even sure why Choate was included in the deal. Yes, Hanley hasn't performed this last few years like he should have, but he has potential the type of potential that given a change of scenery Hanley can become a yearly Allstar/Silver Slugger-type player again. And for that we get a back-end of rotation starter and a minor leaguer that MAY break into the big leagues in a few years... I think the FO could have done a bit better at least, even considering it was salary dump move.

I really do not want to see JJ go... We know what we have, and his potential. With a below avg season like he is having, we can sign him to an extension that would be less than if he had a dominating/great year. And we might not be able to sign a pitcher of his potential for the same $$$ this offseason.

I am all for trading Hanley. His play is uninspiring, and proven to be quite immature and stubborn. I just hope teams see his value and we receive some significant pieces in return. Hopefully we can swap hitting coaches as well in the trade

Before you all jump to conclusions after a pretty torrid June of baseball, let's wait and see the rest of the season play out. Beinfest/Hill have never put a team together with such a high payroll. Putting together a team with payroll in the top third of MLB is completely different that putting together a team with the lowest payroll in all of baseball. Beinfest/Hill have done pretty decent job in the past of fielding teams that were average and above average when the team's payroll was at the bottom of the barrel. Beinfest/Hill are not the best front office in MLB but they are far from the worst.

To all the posters who think the sky is falling, let me point out a stat to put things in perspective. On June 11th 2003, the then Florida Marlins had a record of 31-35. If you remember correctly, that team did pretty well. The current Marlins have a better record, and technically are on a better pace than that team. It feels like someone brings this up every season and it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Saying it's early and 31-29 is fine and completely understandable. However, this is just a discussion of the long-term projection of this team. Pointing out the fact that we have a -28 run differential (only the Rockies, Cubs, and Padres are worse in the NL in the category coming into the day) is not pessimistic, just realistic. You could easily make a case for this team being lucky to be 31-29 with the run differential. It's even flukier when you consider that our bullpen has been shaky and the closer has actually been terrible. I completely agree with what your saying. I may not have been as clear as I wanted to be, but given our current record and the way we are playing we are very lucky to have our current record. Thankfully, baseball's long season gives teams time to turn around and play to their full potential. I just hate that people are giving long-term predictions based on a small sample size. Wait until after the All-Star break, if our run differential and offense hasn't improved, then some of our pessimistic opinions may have more validity. Btw, it only takes a few series to fix a 20 run differential.

Our offense has not clicked once this season as a team. This team's potential is why it's respected around the league. We have yet to see this team run on all cylinders, and so far it has been fun to watch. He's just 28 and he continues to pitch like a top-of-the-rotation starter. The Marlins figure to make the right-hander a qualifying offer to be eligible for draft pick compensation if he signs elsewhere. Juan Carlos Oviedo - Oviedo, the pitcher formerly known as Leo Nunez, is not part of the Marlins' long-term plans. He hasn't pitched in 2012 because of issues surrounding his age and identity. Chad Gaudin - There's no reason to believe the journeyman right-hander figures into the team's 2013 plans just yet. From a practical standpoint, this is a definite improvement. You couldn't even see the old ones. However, they could've done more design-wise. I find them too plain. Thanks for posting. I find these a definite improvement from before. Better this, than what was on there before. A WS Championship is a huge accomplishment that needs significant recognition, hopefully such recognition will be given in the future.

Just in case you were wondering the Marlins are 14th overall in MLB attendance figures. Marlins are averaging 30,502 fans per game which is just above 80% occupancy. In my opinion, numbers should improve if the Marlins play improves considering the new stadium. There should be no reason our attendance numbers should not be closer to 90% occupancy with a new stadium and a good product on the field. http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance

If by mid season, this team is doing well (above .500 and contending for division/wildcard) and we don't average 34,000+ for a weekend series, your worry would be merited. Around mid-summer kids will be out of school and the Heat should be done with their parade down Biscayne Blvd Frankly if by that time we can't average 35,000 for a weekend series while we are contending and in the first year of a new ballpark I will be embarrassed for our fan base.

Although Bell was overpaid in my opinion, I think we need to stop treating his recent poor performance as a lost cause. It has only been a month into the season, Bell will come around. He may be injured since his velocity is a bit off. I'm sure by mid-season this will all be forgotten. But I think we need to move him to set-up or middle relief, and put Chisek in as closer for the time being. But no need to sound the alarm this early, if we should be worried about anything it is our offense which has been terrible, especially since no one in particular is stepping up.

Once Petersen misplayed that ball (he should have let the ball drop, hold the hit to a single), I felt like Bell/Marlins lost confidence and once that happened it all went down hill. We are lucky Chisek is pitching lights out and it looks like Stanton may be finally feeling it again. But the Marlins offensively sucked again(what's new), 10 walks in a game should mean at least 4 runs.

The way this has been overblown by the media and politicians is completely ridiculous. I know it is an election year, but to use this story as a way to gain some votes is distasteful. Calling for Ozzie's dismissal by Commissioner Martinez for a few votes is a poor political move, and shows Commissioner Martinez can not read a few lines and tell Ozzie's comment had an unintended effect, and he probably did not express himself the way he wanted to. It's clear Ozzie can express himself better in Spanish and he most likely misstated a few words in his comments, but that is no reason for a dismissal. Ozzie "shoots from the hip" when he comments on things, and hopefully will learn a few lessons from this. But the way this is being portrayed by the media and politicians is very disappointing to me. Castro is a terrible person who has caused much harm, Ozzie knows that and never said he supported him or his philosophy and actions, he simply highlighted the fact that Castro has resisted so many entities attempting to remove him from power. Get over it and let's play some baseball.

They could put the WS banners/signage on top of the left field scoreboard. It looks like there already is some type of signage/banner support or something like that on top of the scoreboard anyways.

Went to the game yesterday, and was overwhelming impressed with the ballpark. The open concourse is definitely one of the best features of the park. The neon green walls and the home run feature look significantly better in person (I was not a fan, until I saw it in person). Might be in the top 5 of ballparks in the league. Does anyone know if there are any banners or signs commemorating our two World Series Championships? And why are there yellow lines painted on the walls parallel to the foul poles (it looks out of place)? Btw, did anyone who went to the game yesterday notice the lack of chants during the game. The Marlins may be waiting till opening day to introduce chant graphics and calls. Game got quiet at certain points.

I don't know if I'm totally mistaken with saying this, because I didn't get to see the game last night. But couldn't it have been possible to leave Miller in for at least another inning? I know Gload ended up ph for Miller and that led to Ramirez's grand slam. But Miller had only pitched 84 pitches in the game which is a decent amount, but I think he could have gone at least another inning. I usually don't like Fredi's way of handling the bullpen, and I guess this time it finally worked out until the 9th (Lindstrom needs to find how to control his slider). I've noticed Fredi likes to take out the starters early sometimes, which ends up tiring the bullpen.
