The Offense Awakens!

Featured Replies

The biggest difference in tonight's offense is the guys came out swinging. Conine hits a 3 run HR on the first pitch, and Mikey added another first pitch RBI.

Tonight the guys swung on 16 of 27 first pitch strikes. Last night it was 8 of 22.

They mixed it up real well, and went to bat looking to do some damage.

And how about that homer from JP!!! He really drilled that ball. :p

I always mess around with my brother about which one of us brings bad luck. Yesterday I was talking s*** about how the Marlins were slumping right before Cabrera hit that RBI double, so my brother joked around saying that its good luck when I talk s***. Today I started talking s*** from the start and surely enough Pierre hits a homer...

Glad to see the offense awaken tonight, it's been a while since we had a comfortable lead. Good to see a struggling Conine go deep with men on, and Pierre's smile after his homer was contagious. Along with solid pitching from Penny and the bullpen, this was an exciting, well-played game. Although the only run we needed in this game was earned in the first at-bat, we need to take more advantage of runners on base like we did tonight. The fourth inning was great. A walk by Cabrera, a single by Lowell, and a home run by Conine to drive them in. Same with the sixth run... triple by Castillo and an RBI single by Lowell. Lately we've left a plethora of men stranded on the bases, and it was good to see the guys snap out of that tonight and start bringing them in. A game like yesterday's really was what we needed, and hopefully games like today's will become more frequent as we return to the state we were in in 2003 and earlier this season.

By the way, this is my first post. I didn't know about this site until the spot for it in yesterday's game, so I'm glad I saw that.

Welcome to the boards Cougarxlc :thumbup

Gracias, can't believe I haven't stumbled upon this community sooner.

I have to belive seeing JP hit that homer woke everyone up, I guess they figuered if he was going to be hitting long balls they should try the same thing. Lets hope that they can keep it up now.

The offense did awaken today, but it was just a matter of time. This team is good and has been struggling. But still, we are in first place and believe it or not, playing good baseball on the whole.

Sure feels good to get back at the Braves for that anomaly earlier in the season. Marlins...Represent.

very true dude...I was pissed with how they beat us around earlier in the season. We always OWN the Braves!

Lol, did u see the pitchers face when JP hit that homer?

He smashed that ball out of the park :lol .....

I think that brought some light to the team! :p

Conine hits a 3 run HR on the first pitch

And I did not have to take out the "magic card" for that one. LOL

WOOHOO!! Welcome aboard! :drunks

Yep saw that! It's 345 down the line, Pierres homer was estimated at 347 lol. Guy on the phone with the 1st seat right next to the foul pole caught it. :cool

We all have said that.

I was especially glad to see Conine get a homerun, hopefully this will be the beginning of a little hot streak for him

Yeah, he needs to get hot to quelch all this discussion about needing a LFer who will produce.

Cougar...I agree with you....saw the tag on this forum from last night's game....been reading the posts today, good site for like-minded Marlins fans.

The offense has been slumping for some time, but as long as we ramp up with our full potential (starting pitching and the bats come to life) after the all star break, we should be making BOWA quite uncomfortable for being beat out of the playoffs for the 2nd time.

This division is ripe for the taking...Braves are not the Braves of old, especially since they are in a payroll crunch compared to previous years. Until BOWA beats us, we have the PHillies #, METS are a team to keep an eye on.

I'm out. :D

Welcome, enjoy the stay
