August 20, 200521 yr Man every team that was interested in Burnett before the trade deadline, and thought WE WERE asking for toooo much, MUST be kicking themselves in the rear right about now. What is it 7 straight wins, 7 runs in 52 innings. Im happy Beinfest did not pull the trigger, look at us now. I just hope Burnett realizes that we want him here, and maybe he might want to take less money to stay with us. We would have the ebst staff in the majors if not pretty close to the top. Beckett, willis, Burnett can be a 1-2 starter on ANY team in the majors, and we have 3 ACES, we should try as hard as we can to keep this intact. We could call our five pitchers......"The Call of Arms" or "Royal Flush" or "Sunshine Boys"..
August 20, 200521 yr Burnett has been on an amazing run, which is twice as good for me since I have him on my fantasy team.
August 20, 200521 yr ...And people thought I was stupid for wanting to keep him for the rest of the season.
August 20, 200521 yr I just hope Burnett realizes that we want him here, and maybe he might want to take less money to stay with us. 908711 i hope so but the way he is pitching right now is earning him a pretty big paycheck at the end of the year but right now i dont care about that because he is pitching great. whatever his motivation is whether it is $$$ or winning a world series i could care less. Just keep pitching great aj... and the rest of the staff has been so studly for the last couple of weeks :notworthy
August 20, 200521 yr I always had faith in AJ, since he started throwing more offspeed pitches he has been lights out. Beinfest once again makes another nice move.
August 20, 200521 yr I've been thinking for a while that I would love it for AJ to stay... What do you guys think can be done to keep him? Get rid of Enc and Gonzo, etc??...
August 20, 200521 yr Obviously keeping AJ is smart for this season but its next season when he leaves and we have nothing to show for it that we'll wish we traded him.

August 20, 200521 yr if we get to the playoffs he might stay. 908745 Everyone said the same thing about Pudge.

August 20, 200521 yr While the AJ trade rumors were going, it seemed like 75% of this board wanted him traded, if we got the right package in return. Some called him nothing more than a .500 pitcher. There were scant few of us who kept saying keep AJ and go for it all THIS YEAR. So, is anyone out there who wanted the trade ready to say you were wrong, or are you still stubborn. Or in hiding?

I think I even started a poll. 908842 I dont think ANYONE liked the Orioles trade it was more of the Blue Jays and White Sox offers that were most intriguing and Lowell still stinks

None of us are right everytime. Anyone else care to come out.

August 20, 200521 yr How many think the trade talks was a ploy for the players on the team to step up and start winning?
August 20, 200521 yr I can't sleep at night thinking about the contract the Yankees will offer him. 908832 Something tells me he's not going to go to the Yankees...part wishful thinking as a Red Sox fan and part hunch.

August 20, 200521 yr I am still pissed it ever came as close as was reported. Come on, really, Bigbie, Penn and Julio are good players and it's a nice haul to be getting considering Burnett's odd career and signability issues, but they added nothing to our team that we didn't already have an abundance of.

Or in hiding? 908839 The only one who was being stubborn were the ones who 1) did not even want to discuss testing Burnett's value and 2) and accused Loria, Beinfest and the rest of the front office of giving up on the year and conducting a fire sale and 3) didn't want to make any significant changes to the team, not even a small one like firing a coach.
August 20, 200521 yr Hopefully we can resign Burnett after the year is over! maybe if we move on to the playoffs and win the world series he might realize what a great team we can have with him with us!
August 21, 200521 yr Author I was 50/50 about trading Burnett. If we were able to get MLB ready for now talent, I would of said "go ahead", but what we were getting from the Orioles was garbage, and I was saying that all along. Cabrera is going to be garbage ( ex....Sidney Pnnson, Todd Von Poppel), Penn was maybe a better prospect but even the scouts were unsure of him, Julio, Kline, and Bigbie...........PLEASE.....the only thing they are/were good for is/was....to say there name really really fast 5 times. should of changed there name to from Kline....do DEKLINE from Julio.....to Fulio From Bigbie....to LittleBie from Penn...to BullPENN from Cabrera.....to Ponson
