Rich Waltz, a year in review

Featured Replies

So it's almost been a full season of Rich Waltz baseball, and i've got to admit that I really like him now despite absolutely hating his guts when he first got on.

The only thing IMO that he needs to work on in the offseason is his home run call, it's pretty lame. I give him 9 ;mischief's out of 10, he'd be 10/10 if he just had a better home run call.

:mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief :mischief / 10

it took me a while to really get used to Rich after being used to the eliteness of Len. Rich has turned into a great Marlins announcer IMHO. one thing that really bothers me is late in games some of his calls sound like he is falling asleep, whether it be for the Marlins or there opponent. and yes i agree with you Accord his HR call is very lame. he also needs to stop staring at Tommy in that weird man crush way

all in all i enjoyed Rich as a broadcaster this year

As long as Tommy sticks around, it'll be fine. After all, the color guy really makes the booth...

it also took me a while to get used to him but he has gotten more comfortable with Tommy and is doing a great job. He seems to not know much about the history of baseball lol but we have Tommy for that.

I totally regret anything I said about the guy. I like how he isn't a complete homer like the guys up in Chicago or Atlanta.

He needs to learn to control his jinxing powers. :mischief

My overall rating:

9 solid mischiefs.

Tommy gets 10 because Tommy is Tommy. He is sarcastic, humorous and knows when to give the perfect rant.

Rich did a fine job this year. It took him a few weeks to get into a groove and get to know the team. But after the first month he did a top rate job.

He and T-Money make a nice team. That's all we can really ask for.

We have other things to worry about anyways.

I like Rich. He's a pretty solid playcaller and he and Tommy are objective and not complete homers. It makes for a better broadcast when you have an announcing team willing to look at something from both sides. Especially when fans of other teams that we face that have MLB.tv or Extra Innings and are stuck with our feed.

I give him :thumbup :thumbup

...cue the duck...

you'll be here Tommy

Me too.

I couldn't get used to him all season. I tried, but it never happened. I guess we were so spoiled all the years we had great announcers, and I got used to that. He just bores me. I'd much rather click to the radio and listen to Dave and Roxy (even if Dave so frustratingly doesn't call every pitch that is thrown).

Sorry Rich, Dave O'Brien and Len Kasper you are NOT!

"The now sedated Tommy Hutton".

"Tommy's medication is wearing off".

:lol

len kasper reminds me of the cool kid in high school and waltzy is the kid that got his lunch money taken away and likes meteorolgy...aka cape

meh....not my favorite. maybe over time he'll grow on me but mostly he just irritates me. T-Hutt is always great though.

I like Roxy Bernstein on the radio. Solid.

Very True

I enjoyed him hes got a great baseball voice calls the game well. I did think he needs to be a little bit more enthuasiastic when theres big hits and big plays. I have done an Almost 360 on him since the one night when chipper took him deep and he was like yeah!

"He's pitching tomorrow night!"

I didn't see it but it sounded hilarious

Kind of shaky at first but once he got familiar with the ballclub I really enjoyed him. He seemed genuinely excited when we won and genuinely downtrodden when we lost. B+

180. If you did a 360, you'd do a complete circle and be exactly where you started. :D
