September 4, 200619 yr I am just curious, do you think Tank is going to be our closer for next year? If so, we have to find someone/bring up some good arms for the 7th and 8th innings. Discuss.
September 4, 200619 yr I just posted but it got deleted. I said: Tank Tank seems to be *gasp* a reliable reliever. If we can find another closer, I'd like to see Tank make our wins 7 inning games. I think i got that right, hopefully it goes through!

September 4, 200619 yr Considering the revolving door or closers that this team has had for quite a few years now, I would think management will finally have their "go to guy" in the 9th inning and keep him for quite a few years. Would I be surprised if they go out and get another washed up reliever? Not at all! However I think that Tank is the way to go for '07.
September 4, 200619 yr He certainly looks capable of doing the job, but I'm still inclined to bring in a veteran that needs a career resurrection.
September 4, 200619 yr Far too valueable to use only when ahead, he is our best reliever and Girardi uses him generally in difficult spots in the 7th and 8th, the role of a 'closer' is often overvalued. Keeping games close or stranding men on base as tank often does as well as neutralising any lefty (or righty for that matter) he is faced with is often the most important ability for a relief pitcher. No need to waste that talent exclusively in the 9th.

September 5, 200619 yr He's too good of a pitcher to close. He's too good a pitcher not to close. I think he's the best reliever we have right now. I see the Marlins letting JOBo go at anything more than 2M a year, which he wil get offered elsewhere. Tank is the better pitcher and more well suited to the closer role. If he can do it mentally he could be a good closer for years(if he ever costs more than 2M a year it will be with another team).

I believe so, but the Marlins (REMEMBER) like to grab old washed up vets who have nothing to lose which end up being top pickups in every offseason, but his chances are real good, but I acutally see him as our future setup man.
