April 3, 200718 yr Uggla's ball was hit 4 seats to the right of me!! I was actually sitting in the seat where the guy who caught it was...but those seats were his and his family so me and my friends had to slide down a few...if you watch the footage, you can sort of see me in my Lowell jersey...but when they do the close up you can see my two buddies. I have never been that close to a homerun ball it was awesome!! Opening Day was awesome!
April 3, 200718 yr Rich Waltz was on with Joe Rose this morning and said they are still waiting on the measurements. They should have them during today's game.
April 3, 200718 yr http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/.../home_runs.html According to SI Uggla's went 405 ft ??? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/.../home_runs.html Cabrera's went 390 ft. ??? Those seem to be a little short to me.
April 3, 200718 yr You could tell me Miggy's went 600 feet and I'd believe it, I think it was still on its way up when it hit the seats.
April 3, 200718 yr You could tell me Miggy's went 600 feet and I'd believe it, I think it was still on its way up when it hit the seats. I heard the radio announcer say if the stands werent there it would have gone over 700 feet.
April 3, 200718 yr If I remember it went a few rows back of the 446-ish mark on the upper deck, so I'm thinking in the 450-460 ft range.
April 3, 200718 yr Not sure how reliable this website is....I just started following it. It tries to estimate the true distance of a hit. FWIW. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/top_true_distance.php http://www.hittrackeronline.com/top_standard_distance.php Dan Uggla standard distance 424ft ..... true distance 463ft Miguel Cabrera standard 408ft .....true 429 ft.
April 3, 200718 yr Uggla, Ramirez's double-play partner, won't surprise anyone with his power. He still prompted plenty of awestruck looks in the seventh. Uggla crushed a Micah Bowie offering into the upper deck between sections 452 and 453, just left of center field. No estimated distance was announced, but figure somewhere in the 450-foot neighborhood. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...-sports-marlins
April 3, 200718 yr lol 600-700 feet thats funny whats funny is that it was 700 feet against the wind. Had the wind been blowing out, they said it might approach 800 feet.
April 3, 200718 yr I remember noticing Uggla hit his right above the 452 sign on the upper deck, so his had to be at least that. And I agree Tswift, Miguel's homer was definitely still on its way up when it hit those seats...

April 3, 200718 yr This is getting a lil out of hand...700, 900 feet?!?! I read an article stating that a guy who works for the Nationals by taking note of every single homerun hit at that stadium claimed that those two HR's were two of the longest he's seen, easliy eclipsing the 450 mark.

They reported feet when it should have been meters. They said uggla hit the ball 700 meters into a stiff wind! Imagine if the wind was blowing out, we could have seen 800-900 meters EASY.

Uhh no. 1 meter would be 3 feet...so youre definitely mistaken. Uggla did not hit a 2100 foot Home Run.
