pb1300
"I'm going to do it every day if I have to," Nationals manager Manny Acta said of the intentional walk. "I just fear Hanley Ramirez, and I feel everyone else should." Reading comments like this makes me ask...is Hanley the best player in the NL. Its not just because of his comments. The kid is amazing. Im not going to go into the details of his skill set because everyone knows what type athlete he is. I could see some make the argument for Rollins, but still, Hanley has him beat. Hopefully with the new fish tank being built, we will finally have the funds to lock up one of our youngsters. It will be nice if we can recreate this post in a couple of seasons, but changing the question to...is Cameron Maybin the best CF in the league. Tee Ball Bunt Machine
That Pujols guy isn't bad either... He said player, not hitter. There's something to be said about a SS being feared throughout the league as opposed to a 1B.
FlPhillie
Well it sure as hell isn't Jose Reyes, despite what the Mets fans will have you believe.
pb1300
That Pujols guy isn't bad either... As homerish as it may sound, I would take Hanley over Pujols, even though we have all seen what Albery has done thus far.
bobbob1313
No way do I take Hanley over Albert, but Hanley does play SS, so there's value in that. But Pujols has had like some unprecedented numbers through his first 7 (?) years.
Nny
I wouldn't be surprised if Pujols could play better SS defense than Hanley did last year. /debbie downer (the worst part is, I'm serious)
Iowa
i wouldn't take anyone over pujols.. and that definitely isnt a knock on hanley
CYmarlins
it's just good to see comments like that. Pujols > Hanley Pujols is just a beast.
Wild Card
1. Albert Pujols 2. Hanley Ramirez 3. David Wright 4. Jimmy Rollins But any reasonable arguement could be made for any of 2-4 to be flip flopped.
bobbob1313
Not Jimmy Rollins. I'd argue he's not a top 10 player in the NL.
costabear
If you consider Albert's elbow and the probability of a surgery coming in the next few months (along with a lengthy rehab), I'd rather have Hanley. You never know how a player will bounce back from an injury like that.
Puma
Not Jimmy Rollins. I'd argue he's not a top 10 player in the NL. You could argue that, but you'd be wrong.
BroncoBob27
I think what he was getting at is that Hanley is the one that can beat you on our team. Every team has that one guy. The guy everyone else decides to walk to get to the next guy. This isn't a knock on Hanley by me. It's just that right now he is THE guy on our team that they all look out for in certain situations. And well deserved, IMO.

Am I the only 1 who thinks Jimmy Rollins isn't even the best player on his own team (Utley, anyone)? That's why you'd be wrong Puma, Utley and Howard would both surpass him, then arguably Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Ryan Zimmerman

Rollins went from slightly underrated before last season to way way way way overrated this season. I don't know if he's an MVP-caliber guy (I don't think that should have been his), but we're not talking all offense, here. Ryan Braun in no way shape or form is a top 10 NL player right now. He is a butcher no matter where he is on the diamond. And while Zimmerman has shown he can do it all, and well, he hasn't excelled at anything but the glove. Jimmy Rollins has everything. Hanley has everything, but better, excluding defense. I'd say they're damn close as of right now. Same goes for Wright. How many third basemen can be 30/30 guys with gold gloves? PitchingWinsGames
I disagree, I think Zimmerman, based on glove AND bat make him a top 10 player, I'll concede Ryan Braun though. Matt Holliday replaces Braun on my list
Out of the Past
Zimmerman has a great glove but he doesn't hit enough to be a considered a top 10 player.
