July 4, 200817 yr I posted this in the game thread, but since it also fits in here: "Hi, my name is Kevin Gregg of the Florida Marlins. I don't chew, I don't dip, AND I DONT THROW f***ING STRIKES!!" I am really starting to hate him with every fiber of my being. Everyone has a bad night now and then, but at the moment I'm straining to remember when the last time he had a good night was. He's a piece of sh*t.
July 4, 200817 yr Maybe bringing back a guy like Borowski, but idk if he's on the market as of right now.
July 4, 200817 yr It's time to make some moves, for a catcher or reliever idc which we need major help in both, Hoover lost the game, then Gregg lost the game.
July 4, 200817 yr Maybe bringing back a guy like Borowski, but idk if he's on the market as of right now. i dont think we should. Cleveland just took him out of the closer's role because he was so bad.

July 4, 200817 yr Maybe we can travel back in time and get Urbina from 2003..... I say we trade Hermida or Jacobs for an actual closer.
July 4, 200817 yr Its easy to make statements like that. But if you go by that mentality, then there's several games that they should have lost as well.
July 4, 200817 yr Blown saves are part of the game, folks. That's what happens when you don't have a true closer. And I agree with Industriales. We don't have anyone better to put in there. You either trade for one or continue to blow games.
July 4, 200817 yr i propose that we put Kensing as our closer...good fastball, curveball and change up combo
July 4, 200817 yr i agree the gregg is probably the worst closer in the league. sickening. get rid of this clown and send jacobs with him
July 4, 200817 yr I didn't watch all of the game but now that I saw the recap, was there a sinkerballer/ground out pitcher that could have come in after Gregg got the first out to get a game ending dp? Because that pitch he hung out there to lose it was total bullsh*t... Anytime there is a 1 one run lead, I have no faith in this bullpen anymore. We have seen it before (The Mets series at Shea comes to mind)... Fish trail... Fish come back late to take lead... Bullpen blows lead... Fish retake lead, force extras...Bullpen blows 2nd lead and loses game... I really hope there is someone out there to trade for and help this pen...The relievers are either overused, can't pitch for sh*t, or both And I do not get the lovefest for Nelson as closer, he'll struggle too...

July 4, 200817 yr i just want a guy like a k-rod or rivera that u know the other team fears and they dont want to see him....i really like gregg but if he just stopped walking guys he would have no problems....the stuff is there

I'm telling you guys Ryan Tucker should be our new closer. He would kill as a closer.

And for what it's worth, Gregg has thrown more strikes than balls in each of his last 3 appearances.

I admit that Logan gave up hard luck hits to the first two batters, and Hoover cannot block much, but WHY was Logan bouncing a ball up there with two runners on, allowing them to move into scoring position?

Rattled? I'd be pretty pissed after my defense completely failed me, too --- twice.
July 4, 200817 yr While Gregg has been egregious in one run save ops, blowing 4 of his last 4, he has gotten the job done on a consistent basis when he's provided with an insurance run. That said, I wonder if some kind of strange closer by committee would go over. Nelson, who has only allowed one earned run since May, in one run games and Gregg for everything else.
July 4, 200817 yr Fredie has been bringing in Nelson into tight situations lately. I think a few more lead-off walks by Gregg make finally make up his mind a switch in closers is in order.
