Lenny - Does he forget where he came from?

Featured Replies

I didn't catch any of the game Thursday night until I got home from work. Unfortunately, I live in Illinois so I have to watch WGN on tv. Anyway, my point is that it just seems that Len Kasper was really going rough on the Fish during Thursday night's telecast. There were several times where he was just dogging the franchise and then his comment of Dan Uggla was pretty bad. It was either the 8th or 9th inning (aKa Uggla had already had an AB or two) but he commented that the crowd was booing...which I heard very little of...then he said that the "booing" might have been because of his poor performance in the All-Star Game. Then he went on to say that all of the errors committed in the All-Star Game by the NL were by the Florida Marlins, but on any of Hanley's AB's (watched all of them on MLB.tv after the game) does he comment on Hanley going 2-3 with a Run in the All-Star Game? No.

I understand that Len has moved on, but it just seemed that he was being pretty disrespectful to the club. Maybe it's just me, but I thought he was have more respect and would give more credit to the team he came from...

Maybe this is just me going crazy, but it's how I feel. It could also be my hatred for the Cubs, too.

I wouldnt take it personal...

Chicago is just one of those cities like NY and Boston where its "the cool thing" to rag on supposedly lesser teams in smaller markets...and Len was probably just feeding that, which he's probably been conditioned to do for the last 3 years...

oh well...

To bad everything he said was true.Who cares, i doubt Len was ever a true Marlin fan.

^^What he said (can't believe I just agreed with Retro, either).

Dont do that again.I prefer my fantastic opinions to be independent.

Don't worry...I doubt it'll happen again, anyways. :thumbup

Len loves the Marlins. He said this shortly after being hired by the Cubs.

"Working with the Marlins is something I could have envisioned for the rest of my career. In the end, it didn't work out that way. Every memory I will have of working with the Marlins and being here in South Florida will be positive."

I agree that he has been Chicago-ized over the past 3-4 years. But this organization left an impression on him and his career.

Sometimes Cubs announcers need to dog other franchises because they get tired of all the Cubs failures in the past 100 years. :p

Len is still the man though, and is still my favorite Marlins broadcaster of all time

Take off the diapers and stop crying. His job is to talk, and he discussed recent Marlins events. He was not at all out of line.

i feel we have the best announcers in the game and why i say that is because they dont rag on anyone or they dont talk bad about players and i love how they love the marlins there fun!

Couldn't have said it better

He was pointing out the facts, he is a Cubs announcer and therefore can't really be bias towards another team.?

You didn't really expect to say glowing things about a team that has been very despised in that city for several years now, do you? Len could get away with that in many cities, but not Chicago.

Uggla was bashed earlier in the MLB.COM chat, I was quick to point out Uggla's 3 errors resulted in 0 ER and that there was many other players EX (Wagner,Lidge) who didnt get it done besides Uggla.

Len is a friend of this site and a great guy.

Didn't Len come on this board a few times and post and visit and still does visit from time to time?

Well, he never posted directly but he did visit the site. He wrote a letter to the fans here that I posted before it had been decided he'd be leaving to Chicago thanking everyone for their support. Len's a classy guy.

Len was one of our top announcers over the years... he is up there with boog, obrien and joe angel!!!

Its his job to appeal to cubs fans now.

Although they do always make jokes about the Rays announcers when ever we play the Rays. lol

Len has always been a classy guy. Actually, during yesterday's game, he found our hall cam and stood there waving at us. lol

He's awesome and no matter what, will always be my favorite.
