September 5, 200817 yr The fish are behind the mutts by 8 games...and are 5 behind the phillies. if a miracle happens and this team goes on a big streak, it is now. the phils andm ets are facing off and i am rooting for the phils to sweep the mets( unlikely...but remember last year) this is baseball, anything can happen. So weather you believe or not let's just root root root for our marlins! whatever happens...i'll be at that last game of the season vs. the phils and i will clap for the 08 marlins have brought me joy. :cool
September 5, 200817 yr So has this day off made you forget that this team can't even win two in a row?
September 5, 200817 yr I don't think they can...however, regardless of the outcome, I plan on going the last day with my dad (against the Phils) and giving the team a standing ovation. This team has been resilient, and has overcome some odds this year. They have been exciting to watch. To be honest with you, I didn't even expect 71 wins (what they currently have). And I don't believe many people did either. So yeah...I'll be there at least once more.
September 5, 200817 yr So has this day off made you forget that this team can't even win two in a row? I'll be positive and say that we win 2 in a row tomorrow. I was right about Jamie Moyer, maybe I'll get lucky again.
September 5, 200817 yr Well, I'd love to see the team do some sort of miracle, but its not realistic. I'd rather see some of the future players out there now. That to me is more exciting than seeing the same bunglers out there continue to play because of some really remote shot at the playoffs. I have a feeling though that Fredi will stick to his guys, and the front office will keep guys like Jacobs, Willingham, etc, out there to try and increase trade value.
September 5, 200817 yr They won't make it in the playoffs and it's their own fault. Too many games that they could've and should've won but didn't.
September 5, 200817 yr They won't make it in the playoffs and it's their own fault. Too many games that they could've and should've won but didn't. And the only difference between this team and every other team in MLB is that we weren't supposed to get this far. Last place finish in the NL East was the prediction. 69 1/2 wins was the over/under.

And I don't believe many people did either. So yeah...I'll be there at least once more. I said 81 wins before ST even started. It isn't happening the way I thought it would, but it is happening. I am very satisfied with the season. If people would look back at what they were saying before and during ST then I can't see what anyone has to complain about. This season has brought us more excitement than we could/should have hoped for. Going into the season with 3 SPs on the DL and not expected back until the ASB it was a well known fact that all we were looking to do was gain some more experience and confidence. Use this year to see what needed tweaking this coming off season. What has happened is really above everyone's expectations. We made the "experts" look like fools once again. We will be there the last home game. Just like every year. Cameras in hand. All batteries charged. But there are still 9 more home games, so that won't be our only trip to Joe Robbie, just the last one for this year. And we have already purchased our season tickets for next year.
September 5, 200817 yr No they cannot do it. I accepted the fate after they failed to sweep the Mets last weekend. Obviously I still hope they pull off a miracle, but the sake of my own stress levels I have dismissed the possibility of that happening. It has been an enjoyable season, but ultimately the teams reliance on the home run ball has cost them dear in the 2nd half of the year.
September 5, 200817 yr THE WIN STREAK STARTS TONIGHT were gonn win 2 in a row first then 3 then prob not 4 but then we'll go on our streak when we leave ST Louis
September 5, 200817 yr They won't make it in the playoffs and it's their own fault. Too many games that they could've and should've won but didn't. Ah, I hate this. Look, it works both ways. How about all the games we should have lost but we won? That's the way baseball works, it evens out. With 37 comeback wins, you don't think some of those are games we should have lost?
September 5, 200817 yr I hope for a miracle and a phils sweep while we sweep the cards Oh that would be sweet. But if we can make it i wan to ruin the mets chances the last week of the season again.

Very good point! Regardless of our final posiition at the end of the season. I know we completly overachieved this season and it is a direct result of the heart the team exhibited out on the field. If anything, I am extremely encouraged for 2009

This team is what it is. A .500 team. Many expected it to be worse. It's encouraging because it showed that they had more talent than people gave them credit for and it bodes well for the future.
September 5, 200817 yr When they dealt Cabrera and Willis I thought for sure 70 wins was going to be a reach for 2008, so the fact that they are still above .500 is a source of pride. Back to original question can they do it? No, but its been fun watching and should be real entertaining for the next couple of years if they ever get a new stadium.
September 5, 200817 yr DALE HUEVO! THE 20+ Game win streak starts tonite just like the A's with their 24 gm win streak a couple years back!
September 5, 200817 yr anybody who is thinking about playoffs for this year at this point are crazy, but i cannot hate on them for that. I just want to see what we have in Maybin, and if Raynor can start in LF next season for us. That is pretty much all that matters now
