Only time Iv seen RVH this year was in his 1st start in the WBC and it was the same old RVH I know - quite good stuff however too many high pitch counts and a few walks. He needs to start trusting his stuff and the defence behind him more and stop trying to strike out every single batter.

From what I hear west only has good control of tow pitches. He'd get ripped in the bigs as a starter.

Miller seems to mostly be focusing on just throwing strikes right now. his problem has been control, so in the spring (mostly from watching yesterday) theres been some hard hit balls, but its due to the fact hes working on that.

Also, the Tigers COULD have kept him down in '07. But he also had a 2.70 ERA in 80 innings.

 

I don't really think he's "rushed", although more time in the minors in '07 and '08 wouldn't have hurt by any means. I think he just needs to learn at the major league level. And while he had a bad-sh*t bad April, from May up to the start before he was injured, he started 13 games with a 3.68 ERA/1.30 WHIP. Yeah, small sample size, we're only talking about 40% worth of season starts.

 

But he also wasn't really "lucky". A .291 BABIP. Certainly a bit low, but I mean, the difference between that and a .300 BABIP is 1-2 hits. His HR/9 in that streth was low, 0.39, but he's somebody that should limit XBH anyway. Again we're only talking about, like, 2 HRs.

 

He should be fine.

Yea, Miller really does tend to just get really unlucky. Nobody ever hits the ball hard off of him, but they find holes. It's very painful to watch.
