April 16, 200917 yr I don't want to start a bash Fredi thing because I don't think he deserves any bashing, but I really really really really wish he would get over starting Amezega vs. LHP and batting him high in the order when he does. Amezega is actually fairly solid vs. RHP but vs. LHP he is the Pope's balls.

Amezega is actually fairly solid vs. RHP but vs. LHP he is the Pope's balls. It also stems from his compulsion to keep as many guys in the same lineup spot as possible, which I dislike severely. At least this was against a RHP starter, but Paulino and Ross at the bottom of the line-up versus LHP is just plain absurd. Amezaga should usually bat 8th. I'm really curious to see how he handles the next two games, because both Lannan and Olsen are LHP. Really, Paulino ought to start both games. I think Freddi should have played Paulino yesterday night and Baker today, so that Paulino could start the next two. But I can't imagine he sits Baker 3 games in a row, so I expect him to get one of the next two starts, which is kinda stupid.
April 16, 200917 yr Cody since he finally seemed to wake up at the plate in this game. Sanchez was very shaky for the majority of this start. Hopefully his next start will be more dominant.

[edit] I know that having another capable starting pitcher can never hurt I suppose that's a good point, but at least those 2 aren't useless, as Jacobs was. Jacobs hurt this team more than he helped it. Thanks to that trade, we now have a setup man / spot closer (on days Lindstrom is unavailable)...and oh yeah, Cantu can actually play 1B. He (Jacobs) was the main reason the team defense was so attrocious the last couple of years.
April 16, 200917 yr Cody gets my vote. Sanchez didn't have his stuff today but managed to keep the Braves at two runs. Also the Bullpen did great today. As for our offense our 1-3 hitter only got 1 hit out of 15 at bats but the middle of the lineup came through big today. Uggla is turning into a rbi machine. I like his approach to the plate this year. Go Marlins!

April 17, 200917 yr I voted for Cody... good to see him get some hits today... Was glad to see Jacobs go... I actually liked the Hammer / Olsen deal... Where I live, I get all the Phillies and Nationals games on tv, so I got to see Bonafacio play for the Nats quite a bit... My first reaction to the deal was: we got a guy who could help in the late innings as a very fastbaserunner / defensive replacement off the bench

[edit] I know that having another capable starting pitcher can never hurt And, with Maybin looking overmatched and possibly in AAA if this continues, having Hammer would be great since instead we're probably looking at Brett Carroll starting. We lost bench stuff in Hammer/Olsen. We GAINED runs by trading Mike Jacobs. If he's at 1b, he does more damage to his team than the opposition. Why in the world is he not DHing.
