By Steve Adams [May 17 at 5:04pm CST]Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that the Marlins have designated John Koronka for assignment, following his second bad start for the Fish.

Koronka, 28, allowed nine earned runs through 7.1IP for the Marlins, totaling an ERA of 11.05. He allowed a .333 average to opposing hitters and issued seven walks as well.

Frisaro hasn't heard anything about who will replace Koronka on the roster or in the starting rotation, but names Brian Sanches as a possibility to be called up. He also suggests Hayden Penn and Burke Badenhop as potential replacements in the rotation.

They should have kicked him out during the game :) .

i'm getting real tired of all these AAA pitchers that suck

These are time where i miss Scott Olsen :sigh

Next option hopefully is Hayden Penn

LOL I miss olsen too but he just went on the DL with shoulder tendinitis.

Hopefully Penn will replace Koronka in the rotation. Although Taylor and Koronka were both awful, at least we're getting them out of the starting rotation quickly. We're are least being proactive about the situation, so we'll keep trying and hopefully Penn or whoever replaces Koronka will be decent until Anibal returns. Speaking of which, does anyone know the approximate time when Sanchez will return to the rotation?

Lol @ Hayden Penn going to the rotation.

Wow, Konka is the highlight of BBTN. Laughing stock of the world. I am glad he went down.

You have any better ideas? and his name can not be Sean West

How can you watch BBTN after this game? You take losses better than me. I can't take us being the laughing stock.

99% of the time I do not watch BBTN after a loss but today was just a loss (it wasnt a killer loss). Clayton did very well and there was nothing we could do. Oh, I am also bored and wanted something to watch and I was too lazy to change the channel when the Marlins were first on BBTN.

Most of the team should be DFA'd

What is wrong with starting Penn? At least he has Major League stuff unlike the last 2 clowns that were brought up. Unless you can name a better option, I don't see why you wouldn't want him to get his shot.

All these arms in the minors have gone to waste ALA Brett Sinkbeil,Dallas Trahern,Daniel Barone, and im sure im missing more people.

Why don't they just recall Carlos Martinez & put him in the pen?

Someone has to be DL'd for that to happen so quickly.

Just a passing thought...after Scott Olsen comes back from the DL and the Nationals eventually DFA him and his over 7 ERA (last week, last two starts over 9), do the Marlins attempt to bring him back?

Hmm... :brigginbounce

Is the devil you know better than the devil you don't?

wow that's a bit harsh! Cut the guy some slack... He pitched a bad couple of games that don't make him the laughing stock of the world! haha

He isn't a mlb starter but he is terrible he is better suited for the pen...

I have a feeling Hayden Penn is going to be our savior! haha

If that were to happen I would pick him up! But i'd much rather have the guy in your avatar! heh

Personally, I'd like to see Badenhop get to start.

No more talk about using Meyer?

Likely has with what Lou brought up. He's so dominant in the bullpen, you don't want to mess with what's working. And with Anibal supposedly on the fast track to coming back, we'd only need a few starts.

Would still love to see what he could do as a starter, but with the good news on Anibal nows probably not the time.

The only reason I kept watching todays game was to see the no-hitter broken up, I certainly couldn't watch BBTN or MLB I had to shut it off for the last 7 hours or so and I'm only now able to read all these crazy posts. I thought Koronka would have been better as a reliever, based on his first two times through the Brewers the other night, today changed my mind. I'll be interested in his replacement, it doesn't totally freak me to hear Penn's name bandied about for a start, I'll just have to wait and see.
