July 21, 200916 yr So scouts say that he makes generally bad third basemen look like the greatest third baseman of all time? Your opinion on him might not be wrong, it's your inflexibility and hyperbole tha makes you ridiculous.
July 21, 200916 yr Ive never said anything about him scouts havent said. Really, scouts say he makes Cantu look like Brooks Robinson and that he'll never show power at this level?
July 21, 200916 yr Its a shame that we have to keep hurrying all these young guys that arent ready cause the Marlins are to cheap to go out and get somebody that will acually help us win some games... it's a shame you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Would u be so kind to explain it to me then... Dude on the Yankees, red sox,and all other teams in 1st or 2nd place Miller,Volstad,RVH,west,G.Sanchez, coghlin, hermieda,Baker,Bonifacio, would not be in the majors yet... Volstad has proven himself ready for this level, Sanchez is 25, and Baker is 28. Seriously. Volstad has proven himself only to be unpredictable, dont get me wrong i love his stuff and i think he's going to be great but i hate the fact that he's going to have to learn at ML level instead of getting himself ready in the minors and coming back up when he is completely ready... And Sanchez and Baker are 25,and 28 so yes they are ready with the Marlins but wouldnt be with top teams...Gaby wasnt hitting lately and he got called up anyway...But i do get your point of now or never Except for the two games Cardinals and Red Sox where he pitched "wrong" and has learned from it, Volstad has been mostly rather predictable. 6-7 inns, 5-6 hits, 2-3 runs, 1-2 walks, 4-5 strikeouts mostly and 11 of 19 starts quality ones with 3 or 4 others just missing quality starts.
July 21, 200916 yr The Marlins delay Maybin's arbitration (super 2 status to be exact) 1 full season if he's kept down about 25-30 more days. Wasn't Maybin's arbitration delayed once we kept him down yesterday? I remember someone saying that we had to keep Maybin down until July 20. That would be me. The July 20th date was the "1 year of service time" date. Basically, the Marlins are guaranteed to have Cameron Maybin for the 2015 season now. Big deal right there. Now we're in the 4-6 week period, depending on where the top 17% of players fall in future years, of Maybin being Super 2 eligible in 2012. If they keep him down until September, the Marlins will basically control him for the minimum 2010-2012. If they call him up now, they will be paying him an extra $2-5 million in 2012 depending on how good he turns out. We'll have the stadium, but if the Marlins don't think Maybin can push the team to the playoffs by calling him up end of July/August, the smart decision is to call him up when rosters expand in September and save the money down the road. He's not hurting himself playing in AAA everyday.

Dude on the Yankees, red sox,and all other teams in 1st or 2nd place Miller,Volstad,RVH,west,G.Sanchez, coghlin, hermieda,Baker,Bonifacio, would not be in the majors yet... Hermida, Baker, and Sanchez are all over 25 years old...how are they not ready to be here? It's one thing if you think they don't belong here, but to say they aren't ready is incorrect. It's either now or never with most of the guys on your list. And you'll find the same situation on every team in the Majors, even the Red Sox and Yankees. The difference is that those two teams can afford to go out and pay to fill a need. Most everyone else has to fill needs from within. Ready or pressed to show something before they reach the end of the generally predicted developmental age range?
July 21, 200916 yr What they need to do is shake up the team, get rid of pitching and hitting coaches, even the manager and stop the expressway between aaa and the majors.
July 21, 200916 yr What they need to do is shake up the team, get rid of pitching and hitting coaches, even the manager and stop the expressway between aaa and the majors. so 4.5 back of wild card and we should just stop and start over? im sure glad your not running this team because you have no clue what your talking about
July 21, 200916 yr As excited as I am for this, for some reason I think that Sanchez up will only be temporary or that he won't be an everyday starter. The FO still is in love with Bonifacio, but I'm still excited to see Gaby play.
July 21, 200916 yr Is it possible that they finally realize that Bonifacio's terrible offense is only matched by his awful defense at third (ex: his two throws in the eighth and ninth last night)? Probably not, but I hope they give Gabby a chance to play. No reason to call him up to bury him on the bench. I still think that Maybin should also be up here. He can't show much more in NO. Maybin is now up to .343... Even if that translates possibly to a .275 in the bigs, that is still better than the ton of .250 hitters in the line-up. Looking at last night's box score, there were 5 starters around .250 or less
July 21, 200916 yr Ive never said anything about him scouts havent said. Really, scouts say he makes Cantu look like Brooks Robinson and that he'll never show power at this level? His power potential has always been questioned, especially for a corner infielder. As far as his defense, Cantu and Bonifacio might not be anything special, but Gaby Sanchez has always been considered awful defensively at 3B.

July 21, 200916 yr I wonder if he will start tonight. i hope so but i doubt it Maybe Bonifacio will sneeze and pull a muscle.

July 21, 200916 yr I watched Gaby for 3 years at UM. His glove is not terrible, but he does have a scatter arm. He could always hit - 3 called him one of the top prospects he ever recruited.
July 21, 200916 yr ITs just something that tends to bother me about message boards. You make your opinion known and if someone disagrees with it, you dig yourself in to defend it, which is fine. But if your opinion is out of the general consensus, people become totally ridiculous caricatures in their defense of their opinion. See: spike or marlins1 on gaby, Erick on fredi, wmm on sanity, etc. If I may ask...what did I say that was wrong? Anyways, I happen to agree more with Spike. Some people are overly excited about Gaby Sanchez. He's not a big-time prospect, or anything close to that. He's an upgrade over Bonifacio with the bat...then again, that's not exactly a compliment.
July 21, 200916 yr It has nothing to do with being right or wrong, it's the over the top, all consuming manner in which you state your opinion on the subject.
July 21, 200916 yr Let's trade this near 26 year old, future Casey Kotchman.Trade him together with Jeremy Hermida. Then trade Maybin and Uggla.TIME TO IMPROVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess I understand what you're saying now. Like...the part where I said I could do what Fredi Gonzalez does? Just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure you mean that. It can't be regarding his moves b/c I know you're a good poster, and every move I've disagreed with, you'd probably disagree with too since you're not a "who cares about the #'s?" ignorant type of guy.
