August 4, 200915 yr wow i see the fun stuff hasn't changed in my time away...great to be back....:marlins
August 4, 200915 yr Four more hours until I leave the office to head down to the Stadium... My friends and I have placed a "getting hammered" bet if JJ throws a CG 2-hitter or better... If that happens I will be calling out tommorow... We gotta take two out of three!
August 4, 200915 yr I love the HUGE and BADASS picture of JJ and the tiny one of J.D. Martin. We better take advantage of this series, because we don't have too many left against non-contenders.
August 4, 200915 yr The Nationals (or Natinals, take your pick) have pretty much been the only team that has given Josh Johnson a tough time, this year. He's got 3 non-quality starts all year...2 of them coming in his only 2 starts against the Natinals. The other was a 4 inning, 2 ER performance in Milwaukee, but he dominated Milwaukee here in South Florida.
August 4, 200915 yr I just have a feeling we wont keep up this undefeated stretch vs the natinals. the middle game concerns me, but lets go fish. maybe we are just in their heads

Im looking for us to continue our undefeated streak vs the Nats. 12-0 lets go. Line up LF Chris Coghlan 1B Nick Johnson SSHanley Ramirez 3B Jorge Cantu 2B Dan Uggla RF Jeremy Hermida CF Cody Ross C John Baker RHP Josh Johnson
August 4, 200915 yr You know,I was looking through the lineup and realized that someone was missing. I then figured out to my amazment that the person missing was none other than emilio bonifacio. :cool

Our line-up is not that bad if everybody plays to their potential. I am liking our team heading down the stretch! Just get a 5th SP (West/Callozo(sp?)/Hopper (after DL stint) et. al...
August 4, 200915 yr I think our biggest problem is the streakiness. We rank 9th in the NL in AVG, HR, and RBI and 8th in OBP, so really we're not that bad offensively; about middle of the pack. If our offense can be just a little more consistent, then hitting-wise we really have a shot at the postseason. On the flip side, we rank 6th in the NL in team ERA and 9th in total BB. It's the same story with the pitching, other than JJ who has been very consistent. We're 55-50 right now and luckily we're not facing a wild-card race that has maybe 2 favorites and the rest are pretenders. However, we are facing a very crowded race, which I would prefer, especially this year. Anything can happen. That said, I think we have a REAL chance at the postseason even with this current team. We're about middle of the pack all the way around and we don't have one aspect of the team that is absolutely dragging us down. If you told me that's how we ranked on August 4 and we were 7 games out of the division and 3 out of the Wild Card, I would be pretty happy and I am. The FO did a pretty good job of balancing the potential for this season and the potential in the future, especially with the trade for Johnson. So now, I guess it's time to just sit back and watch how it all plays out. If we make the postseason, WONDERFUL! If we don't, there are definitely brighter days ahead for this team. At least we are making it competitive and fun in 2009!

August 4, 200915 yr Zimmerman out with sore shoulder. That's always a plus. Now we really only have to worry about Dunn and a very Hot Hammer, Guzman has given us some trouble as well. I like the lineup but the only thing I would flip around is Uggla and Hermida.
August 4, 200915 yr lets win this game! im scared of dunn, hammer, and nyjer morgan if he gets on he can be trouble on the basepaths
August 4, 200915 yr Author You can almost hear it in Hammer's voice that he wishes he was out of Washington.
