April 26, 201016 yr So I'd say he is promoted to NOLA May 1st unless he strikes out every AB the next 5 days. Just unbelievable. And he's sitting at 17 BB:18 SO. I was so firmly on the "whole year in AA" bandwagon, but this monster is forcing the FOs hand. He needs to see AAA pitching. Just wow. I'm stunned.

But, I still think that if he got 600 PA in the Major Leagues right now, Vegas would set the line around 190 Ks.

April 27, 201016 yr Of course two days ago when he was hitting .265...oh nevermind. Bad form here to not bow down to the next prodigy I know. Great couple of days, hope he doesn't tank like Heyward has recently (now batting .234 BTW) and just keeps working on his game. Give the guy time to adjust and see where he is in a few months. All this talk is incredibly premature. After all it's April and Pudge Rodriguez is leading the NL in batting at .411. Who here thinks that continues?
April 27, 201016 yr The only problem with that whole "He was hitting .265" thing is that he was still putting up a .263/.411/.508 line with an almost 1:1 BB:K ratio two days ago. As a 20 year old. In AA. I actually agree that we should temper expectations somewhat, but that's a pretty terrible reason why. He's been awesome all year, he just went crazy over the last 48 hours. That doesn't take away from how good he's been this year. He needs to go to AAA for at least 100+ PA before we even think about calling him up.

He still had a .411 OBP, a .509 SLG, and a .920 OPS before these last two days, though. Not to mention 15 BB:16 BB. He was still tearing up. These last 2 days have been obscene, but he was raking even before that.

April 27, 201016 yr If you actually thought for a moment about my observation in its totality you's see three observations tied together through a single stat - Stanton, Heyward, Rodriguez and the point being in April, it's really meaningless to look at any numbers and draw conclusions like has been done above. Only an idiot would think I wasn't aware of the totality of his work so far this season. It's hard to miss his accomplishments. There's a lot of talk about why Strasburg hasn't been brought up yet and most of it wrongly points to service time and money as the reason he's toiling in the minors. In fact the reason is he has yet to learn and adjust to professional baseball life, basically playing six or seven days a week after week, grinding it out - no spring break in Panama City to chill with your buds, no jetting off to Aspen for a skiing holiday - that baseball is work and a lot more and there will be plenty of time after he learns how professionals play their game to do all the things he used to do when he was free and an amateur. If Stanton doesn't crack the active roster until August/Sept or even 2011 that's okay with me. This is a very very special player who like a fine bordeaux deserves the time to mature. He'll only get better with age. That guy is twenty years old for god's sake, time is on his side.
