Brett Hayes will be out for a while

Featured Replies

I am also in agreement that was a clean play Too bad Hayes paid the price more because Hanleys throw was high and away than because of Morgan being overaggressive. If Morgan would have chose to slide he would have been safe because Hayes had no chance in applying the tag to the runner. I am sure Morgan is regretting that now. Was it irresponsible of Morgan , I doubt it it was just how he approached the play as he ran to home. It would be wrong to bean him for that reason

I sincerely think that's a good reason why many of us are upset. I know I personally wouldn''t be as bothered if it were a pudge-NLDS style collision. It didn't seem like Morgan was thinking for himself to be safe, but looking for a collision. Also, given that he went out of his way to hit Bryan Anderson a couple of days ago...it just doesn't speak well of him.

Marlins seldom stand up for themselves and their managers never do.

And until they do, other teams and umpires will punk them.

Start Veras, throw at Morgan until you hit him and have a couple of guys led by Uncle Wes go Morgan hunting in the ensuing dust up.

I feel Edwin has been totally supportive of his players and they have openly expressed

that...This is a total 180 degrees from the Fredi regime

Throw at him. Aim for a shoulder but if you hit his head, don't beat yourself up about it.

The Current manager has been overly deferential to the umpires just as Freddi was. You think Bobby Cox would have still been in the game after the Bob Donaldson fiasco?

And Edwin's comments last night after one of his players was injured by a purposeful dirty play were disgraceful.

Edwin tried as hard as he could to get tossed in the Davidson incident. He should've been tossed really.

Yeah. According to Edwin he felt he knew Bob was aware he got it wrong because he said everything he could to get tossed and he didn't.

Also, Edwin got tossed a ton in the minors. I remember hearing he got tossed 4 times in 1 week and once in both games of a double header.

I want to see kyle skipworth called up to see what he's got. I know hes not ready but its worth a shot

and this is why you're not our GM.

The kid's hitting .250 in A ball. That doesn't exactly translate well to the major league level.

LOL!

It's not hard to get tossed. Just use the magic words.

I assume he did which is why he said he was surprised he didn't get tossed.

Perhaps he should've called him Bob Donaldson like you did.

Wouldn't mind it if you got tossed.

I don't know if this has been bought up, but apparently after the whole home plate incident he had it out with one of the marlins fans.

Supposedly he did, that was his point.

Morgan is a hockey player...he should expect and fully embrace getting rocked for his antics yesterday. You pull that sh*t on the rink and you leave with a broken arm. Just the reality of the game.

Well, some of us think Morgan did it just because he's a jerk and some of us think that he just thought he was going to be out whether he slid or not so he took a chance and tried to knock the ball out of Hayes hand. It sucked to see that happen though. While I'm agreeing that I'd like to see the guy get hit today, at the same time, I agree that I would not want to see a fight break out. Sure it'd be fun to watch but the end result will not be good. I'd much rather watch two other teams go at it in a brawl. I'm sure we all don't want to see anyone else get hurt. We already have many players injured, and having any more players injured would suck. Plus then there's a chance some players could be suspended a few games due to it. So the end result would not be good.

I don't condone hitting other players, but if we were to try and send Morgan a message, aim for his back. He'd get the message loud and clear and nobody will get hurt.

Exactly my feelings. Hit him if you want, just don't go in looking for a brawl.

Look how many freaky injuries we've had recently. No need to add to those.

I honestly don't know anything about Morgan until now. But from what I've heard about him, if we were to hit him, it sounds like he might not only get the message but might rush our pitcher and it'll immediately clear the benches. But who knows. We could always buzz him, that might send a message without causing too much of a problem

I didn't feel that he tried to run him over intentionally. I feel he just thought he's sneak in and score uncontested and at the heat of the moment just forgot to slide at home.

If he did slide he would've been safe so we technically caught a break but Hayes did take a toll for it.

If they feel it's necessary they should hit him in like his 2nd at bat or at a point in the game where him being on base wouldn't matter and hit him in the leg or back.

Whatever, just hit him or throw at him.

Um, is Hayes out of options now? Or is he back to AAA next season with Davis? Baker may not be ready to go opening day 2011 and Paulino will be out the first 8 games and team wants help at catcher...

Morgan is a former hockey player who this year has...

Held a hissy fit in center field after missing a ball against the wall (he thought it was a home run, but it was in play. His hissy fit caused it to be an inside the parker).

Thrown a baseball toward a bunch of hecklers in the stands extremely hard and ended up injuring a fan that wasn't even bothering him.

Knocked into the Cardinals catcher for no apparent reason at home other than the fact that he wanted to hit somebody, and ended up being out because Pudge touched him.

Hit into Brett Hayes when he could've slid and been safe (I don't think this incident should cause the Marlins to throw at him, as it was nowhere near apparent that he hit Hayes just because he wanted to. Looked like he legitimately was trying to just knock the ball out).

Nyjer Morgan has a bad history (mostly this year). I mean if anybody needs a wake up call by throwing at them, Morgan is that guy.

Sounds to me like he needs a better wake up call than being thrown at. First of all, why the heck is he even playing if he threw balls at fans? I've heard of that happening before but wtf, why isn't he suspended or did he get suspended already? If he threw balls at me for no reason, that dude would've met with a serious "accident" after the game in a back alley...hockey player or not. Yeah I understand why you guys feel the way you do about him, and I understand the situation. I just rather not see any of the Marlins get hurt also.

Good question. I don't know what we're going to do about next year. Let's hope Baker gets better quickly but it doesn't sound like it right now :confused
