September 7, 201015 yr Marlins ace Josh Johnson could miss his next scheduled start due to back/side pain that has bothered him for weeks. Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said it's fair to say that Johnson is "50-50" to start on Friday in Washington while adding the severity of the problem is uncertain at this point. It's not inconceivable that Johnson's back issues could force him to shut down the rest of the season, as he has only five starts remaining. But that's purely speculative. It's just as possible that Johnson could try to pitch through the pain with continued treatment and that his next start could be bumped back a few days. Bottom line: the immediate plans for Johnson are up in the air. I've been told the Marlins should have a more definitive answer by Wednesday. This much is certain: Johnson did not throw his normal, side bullpen session on Tuesday and did not stretch with his Marlins teammates before batting practice. He was inside the training room, receiving treatment for the back. The Marlins have already lost Ricky Nolasco, who is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday for a torn meniscus in his right knee, and are looking at suspensions for two of their other starters, Chris Volstad and Alex Sanabia. I can top out at around 70 60 MPH. Might as well give it a shot.
September 7, 201015 yr Well this explains some things, I suppose. Christ, swallow your pride, guys, if you're hurt, say something! Especially you, JJ.
September 7, 201015 yr Just turned 16 so I'd have to play JUCCO but I can touch 80 mainly in the Mid 70's. Throw a show me slider, changeup and a Curveball measure with 11 Inches of break. Current Experience. 2 Saves on my Varsity baseball team. Put me in coach, I'm ready to play.

So you have a cannon and can throw a ball 300 feet on a line but hit 30 MPH on the Radar gun? Or are you referring to the fact that every 2 or 3 pitches you'll throw one to the screen?
September 8, 201015 yr Option 2 sadly. I have lack of confidence in my aim and can't focus. Hence I'm wild.
September 8, 201015 yr Option 2 sadly. I have lack of confidence in my aim and can't focus. Hence I'm wild. It's all about practice. It took me a solid year of bullpens and side sessions to become an average pitcher.
September 8, 201015 yr Yeah I know. Most of my throwing is just football to bro. I can throw hard, just not fast fast.
September 8, 201015 yr I can hit the dirt, but technically that would mean I could throw a no hitter doesnt it?
September 8, 201015 yr Yeah I know. Most of my throwing is just football to bro. I can throw hard, just not fast fast. Hard but not fast as in you whip your arm hard but the velocity of the ball doesn't go at high speeds?
September 8, 201015 yr I usually throw 10 buckets of 50 balls to my son's travel team, I could last 5+ innings if my fielders are working for me, I'll have it put in my contract that Wes Helms can't touch the field too! On a serious note, is there a time frame for West's return? Nic Ungs is waiting in AAA to be one of those feel good stories where someone plays for years in the minors and finally gets the call.

September 8, 201015 yr I used to throw as hard as all the other kids when I was 14, but I did it side-arm. When they took notice and made me throw correctly, I was throwing much harder than most of the other kids, but by that time it was too late as my arm would start hurting after a few throws. I still remember one time I was throwing with a friend in practice and a coach asked me throw the ball like a fastball. I remember thinking 'here's my shot to get the f*** out of right field!' and then I airmailed it and wanted to die.
September 8, 201015 yr can we get some starts out of koehler or villanueva just to really see what they have? iwant to see someone called up and actually throw strikes.
September 8, 201015 yr Where is Pat Rapp at when you need him? Speaking of which I found him on facebook.
September 8, 201015 yr I thought this was gonna be a Chris Vol-Suck replacement thread... I've said it since July... We need 1 (maybe 2) decent starting pitcher(s) who don't have to dominate but still know how to get people out (JJ, ???, Ricky, Anibal, ???/Sanabia/West) and a major bullpen retooling
September 8, 201015 yr I can hit the dirt, but technically that would mean I could throw a no hitter doesnt it? :notworthy
