September 21, 201014 yr isnt it jose rosario? No, there are two Rosario's in Jax, both pitchers Jose is a starter, Sandy a reliever.
September 24, 201014 yr Rosario really sucked tonight. However, he was throwing strikes, and he has good stuff. His fastball was consistently 94-95, and he reached 96 a couple of times. He also has this 88-90 mph (slider?)...it looked like a slider, at least; anyway, he has two good pitches, he was throwing strikes; he's only 25. I wouldn't give up on him, just yet. Even Edwin said after the game tonight that he liked that Rosario at least came in and threw strikes. With his stuff, I highly doubt he'll be getting hit as he was hit tonight. He just got beat by some very good hitters in his ML debut.
September 24, 201014 yr There's just something that feels right about a guy kid coming out of the minors and immediately getting smoked by All-Stars (though I'm surprised to check and find out that Rickie Weeks has never been an all-star). He's barely pitched at all above Single-A, I don't know what Edwin was thinking there.

When you aren't going to make the play offs and you bring guys up in September, that's what you do.

A reliever who isnt a top prospect being called up to face major league hitters... you'd think theyd get roasted like Rosario did much more often. Anyways, you can't give up on him yet... he didn't walk people and look wild... Weeks and Fielder just scorched a couple of good strikes... you at least give him a couple more outings and see how he handles it. This doesn't mean he cant have a decent career... not everyone comes in and strikes out an entire lineup a dozen times in their debut. I actually wouldnt be surprised if he puts it together somewhere down the line, if not here then elsewhere.

When you aren't going to make the play offs and you bring guys up in September, that's what you do. This pen hasn't been used and abused recently though. They're pretty well rested outside Brian Sanches. I know the season is over but Edwin comes out and says how important it is to finish strong and then he does something like that? This guy isn't bringing anything to the table for next season, he didn't even make it out of single-A until the beginning of September when he pitched 2 innings in Jacksonville. There is zero way this kid doesn't end up in the minors next year.
