Samson unhappy with LoMo's tweets

Recommended Posts

Samson is unhappy with being out of the spotlight for anything more than 5 minutes.

Side question: About how tall is Samson? I saw him on an episode of Inside the Marlins and he looked like a troll. I'm 5-7 and if he is taller than I am I really do not feel good about myself.

He is pretty short. Can't be taller than 5'8. His voice is what gets me. Such a whiny voice.

"We were talking of a promotion where strippers would give lap dances and I said, 'No, it's much funnier if you have them work the foul pole.' If people think that is seriously a promotion ..."

--David Samson

Yeah I'm sure Logan's tweets are embarrassing to the Marlins

I don't think he was threatening LoMo. I think, especially given Lomo's age, Samson is just trying to look out for him, and the organization. The only reason it came off as threatening and condescending is because ESPN put it on the front page. I have no idea why they did that.

Samson used to annoy me with seemingly trivial stuff like this. Then I heard him speak to a group of students about the marlins, business, and his outlook on life. I left convinced he's as much a business and life genius as the fearsome foursome in the front office are baseball geniuses, and I think it's a great thing we have Samson.

Yes, he's annoying when he jumps in on the broadcast and does the play-by-play over Rich. And he's sarcastic, has a raspy voice, and is short. But the major reason why most don't care for him is because he is the business/dirty-job/fixer guy. Payroll issues? Samson. Firings? Samson. But. New stadium? Samson. He does what needs to be done for the organization as it's lead step-son executive. Someone in the organization should brief all of the players, especially such a young pre-arbitration team on these pitfalls, maybe even in a mini-rookie symposium type-thing, right? And it needs to be someone from management.

It's great to see the fish in the national headlines (slow news day, huh?) and even though it's for something silly, LoMo is getting attention, and he is probably less likely to pull a Mendenhall.

I think this is the most pertinent quote

"It takes an entire career to build a reputation, and one tweet to lose it. As long as he understands that, it's fine."

also that one quote seems to have even more context - probably the reporter read the morrison quote and then samson responded in agreement .... but the wording is such where it just sounds bad .... maybe samson was baited........

"Obviously the better I do, the more followers I'm going to get," he says. "I'm sure it will be way up if I make an All-Star Game; it doesn't matter how original or funny I am on there."

On that point, Morrison and the Marlins brass agree.

"I've told Logan," Samson says, "no one will care about his tweets if they're coming from New Orleans (where the Marlins' Triple-A team plays)."

The people commenting on the ESPN Article are hilarious. Stuff like "who cares about this clown? He'll be out of the league in 2 years, tops"

:lol cracks me up. Keep tweeting, LoMo!

Hopefully he can think of a way to turn this into good publicity for the American Lung Association.

if you read the entire article from start to finish you'll see it's a complete fluff piece in complete contrast with the headline on the front page. he's not really dismayed at his "R-Rated" tweets as it suggests, he's just warning him to be careful..nothing more. the headline insinuates that Lomo tweeted something horrific that has the Marlins FO ticked off and it's simply not true.

Is Sampson so disliked that even when he does something sensible he gets ripped on here?

You think for him to comment on this publicly is a good idea? He should have just said something to Morrison and left it at that. Internal affairs should remain internal...I'm not sure how sensible you can really call this....
