I'm a big fan of him getting traded for something.

I'm sure he'd want to be traded to a contender, so it might happen. We could probably get something pretty decent for him.

No, no trade cause. Vaz is only gone if team gets a 3B from a team. And this team can go on a magical run...2003 all over again...mark it down.

I didn't quite understand that either. He does have a no trade clause, but I don't see what getting a 3B has to do with that. He is saying he wants to stay here, but that could be just "the right thing to say" type of quote.

It is kinda funny how he has joined the ever growing list of guys that are "a waste of a uniform" to being an integral part of us winning games.

Considering how the year started for the team as a whole and for him specifically... I'd be sooo jealous if Javy is on a playoff team and nobody else from this ballclub is. The guy that sucked in April and May makes it and nobody else does? Shoot me.

His transformation and random dominant games/stretches are mystifying compared to how he was at the beginning of the year. I believe he once through over 70 pitches against the Phillies and didn't have a single swing-and-miss strike. And now he's striking out 10 in 7 innings.

Let him say he's happy here; maybe it'll help us get a little something (more) for him.

If teams are willing to look at his recent success, I think he could actually be a really nice piece and help some team out down the stretch.

Vazquez isn't going anywhere this year unless we release him, he specifically signed the 1-year deal with the team so he could be close to his home and family in P.R.

The Marlins were also considered to be a possible contender in the offseason.

We're not contending anymore.

Plus, that deal happened months ago. He's reaching the end of his career; there's a chance he'd want to go to some contender and pitch for the remainder of the year. An opinion can change after many months; hopefully his opinion has changed.

I still believe everyone put too much on K's. Just get the outs. K's just add to the pitch count and shorten the amount of innings pitched. I know this isn't a popular way of looking at things, but it's always been mine.

While I tend to agree with you, we have won 8 of the last 11, and now face 10 games against the Mets/Padres in which we could feasibly go 8-2, and then we would be 3 games over .500 with still over 2 months of baseball left. You never know....

Just looked at the schedule and our next 5 series are against the Pads/Mets/Nats/Braves/Mets. By the end of that stretch we should probably have a good idea on where the seasoon is going I think.

You are completely missing his point.

He's not saying that you need to have 10 strikeouts every game to be an effective/good pitcher; he's talking about how hittable Vazquez was in the beginning of the season. Failing to record swinging strikes in the beginning of the season has a lot to do with how hitters were smacking him around. It has much to do with the velocity of his fastball. Vazquez has traditionally relied upon his ability to overpower pitchers with his fastball in order to record outs. At the beginning of the season he wasn't overpowering anybody because nobody was swinging and missing at his pitches; he was completely ineffective.

However, now Vazquez has retained a lot of his velocity from 2009. How he did so remains a mystery, as Marlins' sportswriters don't seem motivated enough to probe further into what adjustments St. Claire (or whoever else) made to improve Vazquez's fastball and bring back to what it was in 2009. His success this season has been tightly correlated with velocity and his failure to record swinging strikes is a symptom of just how severe his dwindling fastball was in the beginning of the season.
