January 11, 201214 yr Just because he's a bad coach doesn't mean he's a bad offensive coordinator. He, of course, could be both. He's just washed up. He had his little run of creative ideas that have run dry. He doesn't know how to reinvent himself, and has failed at every attempt. Look what happened to the Dolphins. He can't adjust to change, and he certainly doesn't know how to utilize tools properly. And it's not always a bad sign but take note - he's a head coach gone assistant coach. Usually that's not good. What? There are multiple HCs that were fired and became good coordinators.

January 11, 201214 yr Yea, I was just going to say you need to let this play out. He was a bad HC, but he did call plays in Dallas and did a damn good job. In fact, Sean Payton was stripped of play calling duties and they were given to Sparano. However, Sanchez is your QB, not Romo. So from the get go, this is a tough job on Tony. I didn't know that bit about Sean Payton. Romo is certainly better than Sanchez (except maybe "in the clutch"). I'm a believer that Sanchez looked a lot worse than he is this year because of WRs who got no separation and a struggling O-line -- especially the tackles, who had horrible seasons, allowing about 18 sacks between them. D'Brickashaw gave up 9.5 sacks! That doesn't bode any better for the Jets as a team, of course, but I'm somewhat higher than most on Sanchez, albeit with a fair share of reservations.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but I find it really hard to believe in Mark Sanchez. I think his ceiling is a slightly average QB, which is not enough to get it done in today's NFL. However, Bill Walsh did say you can tell what kind of QB you have after 2,000 attempts. Sanchez is at 1,414. So, there could always be a glimmer of hope. You'll be betting a lot on Sanchez, though.
January 11, 201214 yr Mystikol, I made a mistake. Sean Payton was stripped of playcalling duties in NY I believe, not Dallas. So,I was wrong about having the playcalling shift from Payton to Sparano. Regarding Sparano calling plays, from what I've heard so far, they had a system in place where Sparano called the run plays and Garrett called the pass plays. So, it's best to check the stats of the Cowboys run game the year he was calling plays. A good fact I found out, though, was Payton did want to hire Sparano to be his OC.

Those are good signs, for whatever they are worth.

I know you're not. I'm far from thrilled with him, but I do think his ceiling is a bit higher. I've seen flashes of talent and the most comebacks in the league since he came to the NFL, I believe. This article gives an interesting, even if slightly homeristic, perspective on Sanchez, at least regarding playoff performance: http://www.ganggreennation.com/2012/1/9/2693459/the-playoffs-are-showing-you-what-you-have-in-mark-sanchez I also think that there have been so many things working against him: OC who didn't fit with him and the personnel; O-Line has gotten worse each year, including a horrible RT this year; running game has gotten worst each year; defense has gotten worse each year; tons of WR turnover during his 3 years; lack of a true #1 WR, and at the very least a lack of a real vertical threat this year. No one has a perfect situation, but I still want to see how he does with a new OC -- and hopefully Todd Haley calling the pass plays -- and fixing a couple of these significant difficulties.
January 11, 201214 yr I predict Fisher announces today that he plans on signing with Miami. sounds like this is getting close to a done deal.
January 11, 201214 yr I predict Fisher announces today that he plans on signing with Miami. sounds like this is getting close to a done deal. It's taking forever, though. He seems really torn on who to pick. One reason why I want Fisher is because I know he will put together a good coaching staff. I hope this gets done soon.
January 12, 201214 yr First, Tony Sparano, then Henne, now David Lee? Have the Jets learned nothing in the last 3 seasons?
January 12, 201214 yr Author First, Tony Sparano, then Henne, now David Lee? Have the Jets learned nothing in the last 3 seasons? Of course natural fanism will make Chad Henne good according to Jets fans all of the sudden.
January 12, 201214 yr Author Yeah I dunno about that. Both of them are arbitrarily... bad. Yes, technically speaking I would agree. Chad Henne registers a 0.00147 on the goodness scale while Mark Sanchez only registers a 0.000582.
January 12, 201214 yr David Lee hired with Buffalo, not New York. According to reports, Fisher's decision is going to stretch into tomorrow. Neither team has made an offer yet.
January 14, 201214 yr I don't expect the Broncos to win tonight. I'm just glad people are being forced to write and hear about Tebow.
