Yeah, but the whole thing is pretty disturbing to me. If I remember correctly, he was throwing bullpen sessions and was scheduled to return. Suddenly, there are setbacks, and he just disappears for the rest of the season. Usually when an organization is quiet like this, it doesn't send a good signal in my opinion.

The FO has a bad habit of doing this with not just Johnson but alot of the other guys. Wasn't Hanleys first injury the same way. Seems Hanley is the only injured player we are getting updates about. Nothing really on Johnson. Nothing really on Cogs.

I have been thinking for a while that our medical staff isn't getting it done.

Where is he?

Its like he magically disappeared and no one seems to notice.

What's going on?

They put him in cryogenic sleep until Spring Training.

It makes signing at least one other big arm this off-season that much more important.

Or, maybe two.

Back to the thread drift, it's the usual "the Marlins' medical staff doesn't know what they're doing."

BS. This is the same stuff every team experiences. Medicine isn't an exact science, never will be. Every injury is unique and may have unforeseen aspects or complications.

People need to discount every hopeful comment made (and they're always hopeful) about when someone might return. NOBODY knows with any degree of certainty.

At least temper the ridiculous denigrating of professionals by recalling those instances of when what they had to say turned out to be more or less accurate.

Last I heard, JJ was throwing off a mound, feeling good and expects to be ready for ST. No need to get excited.

He's on the 15 day DL and will only miss a start or two True medicine isn't an exact science, BUT somewhere between diagnosis and press releases of the injuries status something breaks down. Clearly someone is not being forthcoming with the information. It seems like especially with the Marlins a sprain ends up being a break or a 15 day DL stay turns into a season ending injury. I could be wrong....

If he is on the 15 DL now, and we have months before spring training let alone spring training, why would it say he will miss one or two starts in April?!?!?!?!?!

Yes, where is this information coming from?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

So, I'm poking around on the Marlins' site and look at the 40 man roster:

http://florida.marli...an.jsp?c_id=fla

It says JJ is on the 60 day DL. Not the 15. OK. Whatever.

What's really strange is the player weights claimed on the official site of the Marlins:

Ceda could possibly be 275, but I doubt it. Maybe 230.

Badenhop 220? He's about 175 soaking wet.

JJ 250?

Baker 220?

Bonifacio 200?

West 260?

:lol

It's like someone arbitrarily added 40 or 50 pounds to each player's weight.

I can't get the image of a 200 lb blubber-Bonifacio running like Prince Fielder out of my mind.

And they still list Oviedo as "Leo Nunez."

lol wtf? I'm 6'0 170 lbs and I'm pretty slim. Bonifacio could certainly be 200 lbs lol

Medical, Conditioning, I dont know which one it is but the fact of the matter is for the past two years our two star players havent been able to finish seasons. Thats not good. Yeah other teams have the some problems as us, but when can we start looking at the other areas such as the things I listed above. .

I will throw out that Hanley's shoulder injury this year was pretty apparent and doesnt look like much could have solved that.

I'm 6'0 170 lbs and I'm pretty slim. Bonifacio could certainly be 200 lbs

Bonifacio is 5' 11". And skinny.

I'm 6' 4" and thin and I weigh about 200.

Bonifacio weighs 200' in the Michelin Man's dreams. 170 tops. The weights on the site are a joke.

Just ask "Leo."

:lol

What says he will miss one or two starts in April?(?!?!?!?!?!)

Did I misread fanofthefish??

That was his original diagnosis! Of course he went on the 60 day DL and was lost for the season, but he was supposed to only miss a couple of starts, sorry to start a panic. More of a failed jab at the medical staff.

Bonifacio is 5'11", 200 lbs. unless if you think every site available is a joke.

As a matter of fact, all of those weight #'s are correct.

Definitely. I met Boni at the Tommy Bahama thing... he is definitely ripped. His upper body is huge. Don't let his size fool you. Boni has some muscles.
