November 15, 201114 yr I think many of you Marlins fans should have input on this. My favorite was the Replica World Series Rings in 2004, which i still have. Worst, well, there's going to be plethora of debate about this. I think it was the cheerleader pom-poms we gave out a few years ago at a Dodger game. I remember Joe Torre was managing and I think it was 2009. There was glitter all over the field. Although there's another one i have, my vuvuzela/grenade horn. So tell me what u think Marlins fans.....
November 15, 201114 yr I was at both those games your mentioning. I remember after every inning staff members trying to pick up as much pom pom strings as they could lol it was terrible but i think the vuvuzelas were worse, those things were soooooo annoying.
November 15, 201114 yr Cool one was a portable FM/AM radio in the shape of a Marlins hat. Why is that so cool? Well you see... when the Florida Panthers opened up in Helsinki, Finland, I was able to listen to the game during my AP Statistics class in high school without the teacher knowing what the device was. Win for me.
November 15, 201114 yr Loved Lunchbox day, that's way back. White lunchbox with Billy The Marlin on it. Or thermos day. And screw y'all, VuVuzuela night was aweeesoommee. The ball giveaway night was probably "the worst." All of them ended up on the field when we imploded. I think we were playing the Yanks.
November 15, 201114 yr I loved the vuvuzela game. The atmosphere and the game was awesome. Edit: worst is when they give away magnets. What the fluff
November 15, 201114 yr Best: Andre Dawson Phone Card on Andre Dawson Night (who would have guessed I would have gone in that direction) Worst: Pompoms
November 15, 201114 yr Best had to be the floppy hats they gave away in 1997, marking the 5th season. I remember seeing people wearing them at the World Series later that year.
November 15, 201114 yr Worst for me: the musical cowbells from a year ago — the ones you hit with a stick (the little cowbells you shake are cool, though). Best one? It's gotta be the replica World Championship rings. Those rings were very popular for a reason -- they were really well made (thanks Miccosukees). So popular, in fact, there was a mini-riot at the gates on that day. The team had to schedule a second ring giveaway at a later date to appease the angry mobs. That fact alone puts it over the top for me. Honorable mention: the Andre Dawson replica Cooperstown plaque. Very cool.
November 15, 201114 yr May I ask what happened to the bobbleheads? I remember 2003 and before they regularly gave out bobbleheads, but after 03 (I think) they hardly had any more giveaways. Those were my favorite. And the worst was definitely the vuvuzelas.
November 15, 201114 yr In 1998, the photocard of Craig Counsell scoring the winning run...all signed by Craig Counsell!
November 15, 201114 yr My favorite is the '97 world series dvd. That, and the rings, bobbleheads, cowbells, replica trophy were also cool.
November 15, 201114 yr I remember getting a Brad Penny Rubik's cube like 2 days after he was traded. That wasn't cool.
November 16, 201114 yr First year in a new park and unis, can't wait to see what they'll be giving away this year...
November 16, 201114 yr Cool one was a portable FM/AM radio in the shape of a Marlins hat. Why is that so cool? Well you see... when the Florida Panthers opened up in Helsinki, Finland, I was able to listen to the game during my AP Statistics class in high school without the teacher knowing what the device was. Win for me. prolly a chick magnet too worst is when they give away magnets. What the fluff no way. they actually gave out chick magnets?
November 17, 201114 yr Have you all forgotten about the "Jack in the Box" complete with a cigar? I have that in my living room right now. lol
November 17, 201114 yr The vuvzela game was pretty awesome (save for the loss and lineup snafu) but I'm the annoying person that loves all the noise makers. Thundersticks, whistles, cowbells, etc! All of them!
