I sure hope this was enough to get casual fans excited and they do well and people fill the stadium all year. With next years FA pitching crop being better, maybe that is the time we can go for great pitching and the look towards 2013 as our World Series target.

December 8, 201114 yr This rotation is buehrle and a bunch of question marks... Volstas is a scrub. Anibal and JJ are made of te same thing Coghlan is. And Nolasco performance is as inconsistent as Pujols negotiations....
December 8, 201114 yr Anibal has gone 2 years pitching 32 games at a sub 4 ERA. He is not made of the same stuff Coghlan is. Johnson health is always an issue, but we have pieces to get a replacement if he goes down again. As someone mentioned, there are so many free agent pitchers next summer than some are bound to be traded in the season. I bet we arent done yet either.

The Marlins apparently felt Buehrle was a better pitcher for some reason. I guess because of consistency because that's the only reason.

California has one of the highest income taxes in the country along with New York, I believe, so I don't know how that plays in to what he makes per year because I suck at math. At least he's not in the National League, though.

Wilson has two years as a starter under his belt, and nobody knows how his body will hold up. Buehrle has shown what he can do every year, and it's not like he was a power pitcher that got by with stuff and will soon have to learn how to "pitch". That's all he has EVER done, he seems like a Maddux type guy that will be able to pitch effectively into his 40's because he has "figured it out" on the mound. Just my two cents, I guess.
