C.J. Wilson to Angels

Featured Replies

Marlins offered Wilson $98-$99 million over 6 years. "If it was about the money, I'd be a Florida Marlin," Wilson said.

Yeaaahhh....that's a lot of money and years

CJ Wilson: If it was about money, I would be a marlin right now. #marlins

Damn it CJ, be more greedy next time.

Sounds like our offer was probably greater than the 6-year, $80 Million reported...

Gizmo just posted how much our offer was. 6 years for 98 million.

Aloso, CJ, we're the MIAMI MARLINS, not Florida.

C.J. did no decide until 530 am. Agent Bob Garber says he "easily" could have gotten 100M. #Marlins and Loria "would not let it go." #MLB

Loria is super cereal.

Well, we don't need idiots on our team. That money in year six is money he'll never see again in his life.

Seriously. You need to be really stupid to turn down that money.

As disappointed as I am he chose the Angels, it's always refreshing to see a professional athlete take less money to go where they truly want to play. He probably did us a favor. More money to lock up Stanton.

All efforts made by LoMo in trying to secure CJ were greatly appreciated, but he obviously needs to up his Twitter game further!

Can't blame the guy who decided lifestyle on the west coast is better than taking the money on moving his family across the United States.

Marlins didn't fail because of lack of effort on any of these guys, that's for damn sure.

This. Anyone who ever said it was all a publicity stunt needs to shut the f*** up.

Quite honestly, I think I'm happy that he did not sign here. Although he would've made us better next year for sure, so that part sucks. That is just way too many years for a pitcher, though. The Angels got a nice deal (I would've been really happy with 5/75).

but yet I saw wilson say on MLBN that his mind was basically made up within an hour of arriving at the WM. Or maybe I was half-asleep?

I really need to sleep more.

Not to mention it's Southern California instead of South Florida.

well for what it's worth, CJ said if it was just the money he'd be a Marlin right now. Said the Marlins were totally classy, the situation would've been great there too. Said it was a win-win with either team. And had the Angels not been involved he'd have gone with the Marlins.

Atleast CJ came out and said what he did and explained his thoughts. I know Pujols is not obligated to but im sure everyone would like him to explain his choice, especially the cardinals fans.

He can use one word. MONEY!

I do think he was kinda pissed at the Cards for signing Holiday long term and not getting him done first and then in his mind they low balled him. Remember this is a guy who I have heard still has a chip on his shoulder because he was drafted so late. I kinda like that in a player though.

Yeah, he called the Marlins 100% awesome and said he would have been the Marlins if it was any team but his hometown team going against them. Gotta give him props for going with his heart instead of the money, though.
