January 19, 201214 yr I like him. However i don't particularly want the bloke if he is standing in the way of better players coming in.
January 19, 201214 yr There’s an expectation that the Marlins will try to trade Juan Carlos Oviedo, and the reliever told Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he’s mentally prepared for a deal. “It's a business, he said. “I'd like to stay in Miami, but those are things they decide. -MLBTR the only teams that seem to need a closer are Oakland, Houston, Chicago(AL), and Cleveland. what the hell are they planning on trading JC for?

January 19, 201214 yr You get a six million dollar setup man off the books and hopefully get something back compared to letting him walk and getting absolutely nothing.
January 19, 201214 yr Wandy Rodriguez. I could dream? Hmm ... ... Oviedo, Coghlan, Dominguez for Wandy? Think they'd bite?
January 19, 201214 yr Wandy Rodriguez. I could dream? Hmm ... ... Oviedo, Coghlan, Dominguez for Wandy? Think they'd bite? Johnson, Ricky, Mark, Z, Anibal.... Wandy???? where
January 19, 201214 yr Wandy Rodriguez. I could dream? Hmm ... ... Oviedo, Coghlan, Dominguez for Wandy? Think they'd bite? Johnson, Ricky, Mark, Z, Anibal.... Wandy???? where Ricky or Zambrano moved to bullpen. Personally, I think Nolasco could do amazing at the back end of a bullpen, especially with those sick runs he can put up during games at times. It'd be JJ, Buehrle, Anibal, Wandy, Zambrano/Nolasco That'd be a very solid rotation.

They should have zero interest in Oviedo, Say we offered to pay half or 3/4 of the contract. I don't think it'd be the worst idea in the world, considering we're not really paying much for Zambrano now.
January 19, 201214 yr Oviedo for a somebody highly regarded but just drafted - place your bets, roll the dice, and takes your chances
January 20, 201214 yr The Astros would have zero interest in that deal and we should have zero interest in putting Ricky Nolasco in the bullpen. That idea would be the worst.
January 20, 201214 yr Paying someone ~$9 mil to throw in the bullpen, how ridiculous! Oh wait... Heh. Just kidding. But really, like I said, 'just dreaming'.
January 20, 201214 yr What would be so bad about putting Nolasco in the bullpen if we got Wandy Rodriguez, aside from cost?
January 20, 201214 yr Nolasco's a champ at laying an egg in his first inning and then pitching amazing for the next 7.
January 20, 201214 yr Paying someone ~$9 mil to throw in the bullpen, how ridiculous! Oh wait... Heh. Just kidding. But really, like I said, 'just dreaming'. moving a $6 million set up guy to put a $9 million dollar middle relief guy makes perfect sense
January 20, 201214 yr What would be so bad about putting Nolasco in the bullpen if we got Wandy Rodriguez, aside from cost? Nolasco would simply lose whatever value he has. Nolasco is a starter. When a pitcher is capable of giving you 200+ innings, you want him starting. The Marlins didn't invest in Nolasco long-term to become a reliever. If that trade somehow happens (it won't), Nolasco's salary would be dumped elsewhere. The whole point of trading Leo Juan Carlos I hate his name is to not pay a setup man (and a mediocre one, at that) 6 million dollars because it's an inefficent use of resources. They're not going to trade that salary to put Nolasco's salary in the bullpen. It' an inefficient use of resources and this team still has a payroll for 2012.
January 20, 201214 yr http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Cleveland-Indians-pitcher-Fausto-Carmona-charged-with-using-false-identity-in-Dominican-Republic-011912 So someone else with a fake name from Dominican Republic!!! Wonder if they compared stories before they came here.
February 3, 201214 yr Samson said Juan Carlos Oviedo (formerly Leo Nunez) will "probably not" start the season with the Marlins based on a number of variables that make it difficult to predict his status. Oviedo is continuing to work through legal hurdles in the Dominican Republic that are needed for him to return to the United States and play in the majors. "I hope that things get cleared up and we'd love to have him in camp and getting ready for the season," Samson said. But Samson said there's a chance that Oviedo could face disciplinary action from Major League Baseball because "there was an acknowledged violation of the law" by the pitcher, who had pitched under an assumed name. "If you ask me will he be at spring training, my answer would be 'probably yes,'" Samson said. http://miamiherald.t...and-oviedo.html
February 4, 201214 yr The consequences of Dominican ballplayers caught using a false identity include ''ineligibility to enter the United States for life,'' according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
