I don't think anyone is going to win the raffle. The lottery, however...

Those selected in the lottery will be notified tomorrow.

I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you

Well, crap.

We regret to inform you that your entry in the 2012 Miami Marlins Opening Night Ticket Opportunity was not selected. A total of 87,253 fans registered for this opportunity. In order to offer everyone the chance to purchase two tickets for Opening Night, it would require 174,506 seats - nearly five times the capacity of Marlins Park.

I think it's dumb that the Marlins allowed season ticket holders to double dip (and consequently put the tickets on Stub Hub at a huge mark-up) instead of opening them up for more individual sales.

My Marlins' ticket salesperson actually used it as a sales pitch, and that's exactly why they did it. It gave people a bigger incentive to buy even a 10 or 20 game ticket plan, you could pay for half the plan simply by selling extra opening day seats... Pretty smart, actually.

Wait so people with only a 10 game plan could buy extra opening day tickets?

I think that strategy would definitely be a selling point for the smaller plans, but I can't imagine it being a dealbreaker for the larger plans.

I'll wait and see what a ticket will go for on Stubhub, but it looks like I'll be catching the opener on ESPN.

May luck out and find a better deal closer to the game if brokers get nervous, good luck with that. It'd be a shame if a true fan like you missed out on being there.

I disagree, as a season ticket holder, I want priority over the casual fan who just wants to be there to be hip and trendy in the first games at the new ballpark. Then again, I wouldn't want anyone on these boards being shafted because of those casual fans. And secondly, I'm also only using my extra tickets for close family and friends to join me, not to make a quick buck.

I got the full season plan so it wasn't a selling point for me but gives me an extra bonus and if family/friends aren't interested I'll put them on stubhub for cheap and still some profit. But I'm sure many people got the 10 plan one for only being able to get opening day tickets which was smart in their part.

Not all season ticket holders buy a package because they are true Marlins fans. Many use them for business purposes and give the tickets to "casual" fans.

On top of that, I can guarantee that there are way more than 1,000 true Marlins fans that want to go to the game.
