Sorry to say it isn't going away. Cubans in SO FL according to channel 7 are very upset, calling for his firing, boycotting the Marlins, and planning a protest rally from Versailles restaurant to the Park on Tuesday in morning.

Nope doesn't appear to be going away any time soon.

If the Fish are winning in mid-May, they'll forget about it.

Plus if people would actually read ...

I don't even have to finish that statement, really.

Not going to happen when you add Castro and Miami together.

BTW, I'm going to Cuba next week... anyone want anything?

Castro bobblehead.

The group that is boycotting the Marlins and doing the protest rally has 63 likes on their facebook page. I don't think they are entirely representative of the Cuban community in Miami.

I would venture to guess that this particular group is fringe compared to other exile groups. Right?

 I wouldn't doubt that I could find these in the big market if I looked hard enough

A new addition for the bobblehead museum perhaps?

Bring me back some Cubans.

Not cigars. Like, real people Cubans.

Of all the things Ozzie Guillen has said and done in Chicago, none of them have generated the furor his Castro comments did in South Florida. With several radio stadions dedicated to anti-Castro programming 24/7, I am sure this will not die any time soon.

Oh, yes it will. Someone's gonna make another comment in a month, and people will be all, "Ozzie who?"

That person will be Ozzie.

It wasnt such a stupid comment if you listen to everything he said. He didn't say he loved Castro, he sarcastically made a joke about admiring the guy surviving all these years, thats it.

A joke that was in poor taste. But no biggie. Win and no one will remember this except for a handful of people that will now boycott the games. Wanna bet they probably weren't going to any games anytime soon anyway? Big whoop-de-do.

Actually, he did kinda make a good point. If you take into consideration the groups that were reportedly trying to kill the guy. The CIA. The Italian mafia. Most likely the old Cuban government, which was pretty corrupt in it's own ways. But Ozzie, please. Don't try to make us think. It hurts.

There is only one way to remedy this situation: Have a Cuban throw out the first pitch on Opening Day next year.

Really? In keeping with the most awkward first pitches ever I heard they were getting Stephen Hawking to do it.

It looks like this is a dominant topic on South Florida sports talk radio this morning. I am sure it's even bigger on exile radio this morning.

And if its causing this kind of controversy on just this board, think about what certain radio stations will do to stir things up. The Marlins already have a lot of enemies in Miami, and for those that don't believe me they are just putting their heads in the sand, and this can only stir up those who already passionately hate the Marlins.

Those that believe this will blow over quickly, and not have any lasting effect again are burying their heads in the sand. You have just given those fans you are trying to woo over, another excuse not to like the Marlins or attend their games.

Swift action needs to be taken. Not saying I agree with it, but this is business and Ozzie has "taken in or out of context" said something that is at least perceived by many in this community (rightly or wrongly) on par with telling a group of Israeli Jews that you respect Hitler. Its the same thing.....its offensive and very stupid of Ozzie to go there. He should have not said anything, and it may end up costing him his job.

Again not saying they are right, but these people may go so far that Ozzie may have to step down for the controversy to go away, and then some of them will chide the Marlins for taking so long.

If the Marlins are smart, for their long-term success they need to replace Ozzie. Its not what I want to happen, but I believe it would be the most prudent thing to do. And after all this is business 1st.

PHILADELPHIA -- Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen, facing criticism over comments he made last week expressing admiration for Fidel Castro, says he intends to fly back to Miami after the Marlins' game here Monday to answer questions about his thoughts and feelings about the Cuban dictator in person.

Guillen, speaking in the Marlins' dugout before their afternoon game against the Philadelphia Phillies, said he felt "guilty" and "embarrassed" and wants to address questions personally.

"I want to make everything clear what's going on. Then people can see me and know what I think," Guillen said.

"I think it's the proper thing so people can see my eyes and ask every question they want to ask."

A news conference with Guillen is expected to be held Tuesday in Miami, at a time and place to be determined.

A Cuban-American advocacy group in Miami, Vigilia Mambisa, has said it would boycott and demonstrate against Guillen until the Marlins fire him.

Guillen told Time magazine for an article published last week that he loves Castro and respects him for staying in power so long. The Marlins subsequently issued a statement clarifying that the organization has no respect for Castro, calling him "a brutal dictator who has caused unthinkable pain for more than 50 years.

Guillen said when read his comments on Friday, he said he felt sick because he knew how people would react.

"I will apologize if I hurt somebody's feelings, or I hurt somebody's thought," Guillen told writers on Saturday. "I want them to know I'm against everything 100 percent -- I repeat it again -- the way this man (been) treating people for the last 60 years."

Jayson Stark is a senior baseball writer for ESPN.com.

Too bad for Ozzie, but he should be smarter than this.

I'm afraid this will not end until he is out of his job.

Too bad.....but he did it to himself.

All that Ozzie needs to do is appear somewhere with Illeana Ros-Lehtinen or any of the Diaz-Balart brothers and it's all good. Don't worry.

They're politicians. I'm sure they can be persuaded.
