Does anyone hate Hanley as much as I do?

This place has been insufferable over the last 2 weeks or so.

Fo shizzle.

He really hasn't been that bad. His attitude has been pretty good and he seems to be getting along better.

His offense has suffered a little bit but his defense has even great. He does need to have a better bat though.

But guys like nolasco and buck are performance cancers. They are just not that good and have horrible contracts.

I'd love nothing more then to see the Marlins trade Hanley for David Wright and a prospect.

Wright is a class act, and deserves better then the Mets have treated him.

Heck, I'd even trade Hanley for the rest of the season of Wright.

Why don't we just trade all the Marlins players for the entire Mets team? I'm very surprised with how decent the Mets have been this year. On paper we should have been better than them, but our record says otherwise.

Why would I hate the best player(currently) on this team?

You need to ask yourself why you hate him. Is it because he doesn't hustle? Well he has just as many infield hits as Reyes, and isn't as fast as him. Sounds like he hustles down the line to me. Also, if you use your eyes like so many like to do around here, try to remove the prejudice. You will suddenly see lomo dog it out to first base on a ground ball. Suddenly Bonifacio doesn't look like hes running so hard to first on a ground ball. All of them do the same sh*t. Guess why? Because they are good baseball players who know when they have a chance to beat out a throw or not. They try when they have a chance, they don't put 100% when they don't.

Is it because he's not a team player? Well he changed positions this year for Reyes, and despite all of the fabricated rumors and nonstop sh*t talk he kept his cool. Sounds like a selfless player to me.

What about the past? Name what he's done. Booted ball. Yeah, that was bad. He hasn't done it again. From all reports that aren't fluff he learned his lesson. There are plenty of players that do similar sh*t that don't get this much irrational hate. Getting Freddi fired? Thanks Hanley. No, seriously, if you really got him fired and it wasn't some media bs similar to the switch to 3b thing, thank you. What else? Oh whenever he gets hurt everyone seems to rag on him about being a p***y. OK. What about playing with a shoulder so f***ed up that it pops out in your sleep? OH you think you could do that? Imagine what it might feel like to swing a bat with a shoulder that likes to just popout while sleeping. Or his back problems last season. The guy had to stand during flights because his back hurt too much to sit. STAND DURING FLIGHTS. Yeah. What a p***y. I've even heard people complain that he adjusts his cup too much. That's what happens when you have a monster dong. Stop trying to find things.

I hear people say Hanley doesn't try or he's lazy. Yup. He's so lazy he transformed his body in almost one off season. Look up pictures of Hanley in 07. The guy was a twig. Now he's a beast. I don't care if you think that made him hit worse. That's dumb and so are you if you think that. The guy had to work hard as sh*t every day in the gym to become a physical beast. Lazy people don't do that. He does't try? More like makes it look easy. Its in every sport.

Make a list of reasons why you hate Hanley and I'll show you why you are wrong to feel that way.

Read my post. Never questioned his defense, or whether he's a good teammate or lazy. The problem I have with him is he is supposed to be the face of this franchise and is playin like anything but. I love how you guys defend the indefensible. He's swinging a horrilbe pitches and is a completely different hitter with no one on then he is with men on base. This guy needs to set examples and lead this team. Again, I have issues with him because of his status on this team. I'm much more forgiving of all the other players for that reason. He either needs to step it up big time or should be dropped in the line-up.

He's overrated and under performing, I understand you get multiple hard on's saying his name though, oooohHH Hannnndles.

I guess we disagree.

READ THE WORD OF GOD LISTED IN THE HERALD, JERK.

Classy. I can tell you're from Orlando.

Hahaha get it? His opinion is invalid because he's totally gay for Hanley!

squall, his defense really hasn't been good this year. If he didn't just switch to arguably the hardest position on the diamond this year, I'd even say it's been bad. He's a -1.

Other than that, yeah, it's irrational to hate a guy, who, on a struggling team, had a rough patch but still has a .781 OPS. And he's beginning to climb out of it. He's 7 for his last 23. Funny how threads like this weren't around on June 3rd when he had an .845 OPS.

How much of the game do you watch? His defense at 3rd base has been good but I'm sure you would let a stat tell you otherwise because it's a negative number.

So has this team.

Stupid thread, though.

Losing streaks usually bring out the worst of this board, but lately it seems like it's been the newer & non-regular posters spreading most of the idiocy.

Rest assured his Runners On/RISP numbers are quite off from where they normally are, so I'd have to disagree with what you're saying here.

His underperformance is annoying though, yes.

Hes always been bad with RISP. Not just this year...

Really? He's had one poor season batting like... .250 with RISP or runners on or something... other than that he's had multiple .300+ and .350+ seasons with runners on or RISP. Don't quote me on those exact numbers, but I guarantee you you are mistaken if you believe he's always been bad with RISP.

Would be interesting stat to look up because im sure his numbers were decent with RISP the first few years when he wasn't trying to hit a homerun every swing but I can almost guarantee they have been bad the last 3 years (counting this year). Where can we look this info up on past years? I cant find it on ESPN.

.252 in 2010

.314 in 2011

.189 this year ... so yeah, he is doing pretty horrible right now with RISP. :|

What we need is 2009 Hanley's RISP ability [.373 that year, plus 3 grand slams] with 2008 Hanley's power [33 homers] and 2006/2007 Hanley's speed [51 steals both years]. MVP! lol

If you knew how the stat worked, you wouldn't blame me for trusting it.

Actually, never mind. You probably would because you have the logical thought process of a pine tree. And I don't mean the Ents from LoTR.

I don't think he's been "good" defensively. He's been better than I expected, but still a negative defender. The numbers pretty much back this up.

Which is why I said "if he didn't just switch to arguably the hardest position on the diamond", I'd consider him bad. I don't consider him bad just yet (even though the numbers are there to consider him bad). I just don't consider him good.

Well, his range factor / game and range factor / 9 are both below league average this year.

So Benched has a point here, just used a different stat.

Plus - GoFishGoMs - you were at the top of the "Hanley Haters" list last year - what's with this sudden change?

It's a shame Hanley isn't white; people would probably like him more.

2nd best hitter on the team. First year at 3B and looks just fine out there. Logan Morrison has been playing LF for years and still looks like a moron out there. Funny how Hanley rarely gets credit for working hard and not looking like an idiot at 3B.

Great thread though.

Another great day by Hanley.

Yeah, because the rest of the team has been tearing the cover off the ball.

But let's blame Hanley for everything!
