7/5 Post Game

Only 8.5 games back. We got time to fix that, right? Do you guys think we can still win a wild card?

no.

That was so deep you made Linda Lovelace look like an amateur.

Why not? I would think that a average July, and an awesome August and September could get us to the post season, and to World Series glory. We still have time. I don't seriously think we will win the World Series this year though (we will next year,) but I don't see why this team could't make it to the postseason.

Unlikely but the WC race is not over yet.

The division title would get a small flag in the stadium though.

It would take a sweep of the cards. I thought we needed 5 wins before the all-star break, and we didn't get the 3 from the brews. Every time we go on a run, at least so far in the season heath bell comes in with a lead in the last inning, and we lose. The 6-7 loss to the st louis cardinals was in my mind the end of our season. unless you foresee heath bell becoming the heath bell of years passed, then I think we have no shot. I feel he has a few more key blown saves left in him.

4.5 back is nothing. is the season half way over yet? not saying we are going to go on some sort of run but to say 4.5 is anything significant at this point of the year is kinda ridiculous.

we'll see how much lee helps.

exactly. I think there was some confusion. someone thought we were 8.5 back in the WC, thats the division

good news everyone. We get this new relief pitcher on july 23. word on the street is he could replace bell in the closing role. J.C. Oviedo, he's a 30 year old from the dominican. Which means all we have to do is stay in it till then.

I somehow doubt he is going to fully replace hell at closer, but damn that does make an expensive 8 and 9nth inning tandem.

we are only paying JC 2.4 million dollars of his contract. so not as much as you'd think. also, there are very few pitchers in baseball that couldn't replace the fine work of heath bell this season.

Yeah I forgot about the prorated portion.

as far as Heath, should and could are too different stories. I really doubt he gets fully replaced. FO probably won't let that happen.

Need to play like May the rest of the way

We're not in as deep of troube as it seems. We're only 4.5 games back of a WC slot with more than half of the season remaining. Let's see how the rest of July plays out before we start to throw in the towel.
