Marlins - Orioles Discussing Trades

Featured Replies

To be fair, Adrian Gonzalez was not supposed to be as good as he's become at the time of the trade. We also had Jason Stokes in the system, at the time.

Dylan Bundy is arguably the best pitching prospect in baseball right now.

would you guys trade JJ AND Hanley if we could get Bundy and another guy? I'm not sure about that, don't want to trade JJ.

Yes.

We're not getting Bundy. Bundy is "centerpiece for Giancarlo Stanton" good.

There is an old Vulcan proverb: Only the Marlins would trade Adrian Gonzalez for a reliever

It won us a world series.

Not really. Urbina was not worth Adrian. I'd trade for Urbina again in '03 but not with Gonzalez - it was a major overpayment

Thats all assuming the Rangers would have traded Urbina for something else which isn't known and besides Gonzalez was hurt and the Marlins didn't think he would ever become of anything, sometimes it's just bad luck.

I'm probably biased because I got to watch him a lot with Portland Sea Dogs when they came to play the Reading Phillies... I thought he was gonna be a good player

I've seen him pitch he's pretty good so good in fact that he didn't give up an earned run while with Delmarva. His numbers are still great in high A but he's given up earned runs. He's so young too guys going to be nasty.

Frisaro says this may also have to do with the marlins averaging 28,500 per game rather then the 34,000 they projected.

I think that's bulls***.

Yea thats a lot of crap, why are we complaining about attendance again the one year we have actual fans. We rank 18th in the league as far as attendance goes.

How can anyone blame Marlins fans when the entire team is under performing dramatically and the one guy who isn't is injured now

Because those attendance figures are mostly determined before the year with season ticket sales. They were expecting more sales for sure.

Paid attendance was 29,019 last night. Not bad at all for a Monday night.

I don't think JJ would be traded unless the Marlins were overwhelmed with an offer

Agreed. and frankly I would be pissed if they traded JJ off in some type of half ass deal. I'm in the camp that would still like to see him back next year.

Much better off getting rid of Ricky then Johnson. Ricky should be packaged with Hanley if he is traded and if not just give him to someone who will take the salary.

No chance at Bundy and I think there's little to no chance at Machado. If we did get Machado what would we do with him? Reyes is at SS long term and Machado only wants to play at that position in the majors.

I'm hearing that Bundy and Machado are off of the table. You are looking at someone like an Arrieta or Matusz.

I don't see why anyone would expect anything different. That's why I hope we deal with a different team.

It doesn't seem like anybody is offering anything worth giving away Hanley. At this point I'm more inclined to keep him than to trade him if we can't get top players/prospects in return.

There is no one on the Orioles worth trading for. This is getting old.

I thought I would be the last person to say this but if nothings there wait until next July, plus it will allow all those who still "believe" to get one last hope.

We would only get Bundy if we gave them Stanton or Jose Fernandez. Which is not happening... hopefully.

J J would be enough to have them include Bundy in a deal I would think. I however wouldn't want to trade JJ. Especially from a PR stand point. You can't trade both J J and Hanley, and not call it a fire sale.

You're crazy if you wouldn't take JJ for Dylan Bundy straight up. There's no way in hell the Orioles would even consider doing that.

............. JJ is an ace right now. He's not three years away like Bundy. He's gonna shove in the second half.
