Posted June 26, 201311 yr AJ Ramos vultures a win after Jose fights through a tough outing. Deets homers (and off a lefty too), doubles from Ozuna-Morrison-Stanton, and bullpen was solid. Starting to look like a major league team out there lately. A month ago all those 8 hits would've been singles & the Marlins would've lost 2-1.
June 26, 201311 yr Whatever the stats might say, I really like AJ Ramos as a possible closer option. He looks good out there. Morrison/Stanton/Ozuna 3-4-5 in the lineup looks really solid of Morrison can perform like the 22nd ranked prospect he once was and Ozuna continues to play over his head. When Yelich reaches the majors and Dietrich becomes the starting caliber second baseman most of us expect him to become, I really like our lineup, even if the 6-8 spots are complete albatrosses.

In a couple years, Dietrich could be our #6 or 7 hitter. Yelich, Barnes, Moran, Stanton, Morrison, Ozuna, Dietrich, Hech, pitcher. This lineup could be awesome.
June 26, 201311 yr I've softened on Barnes at catcher recently. He suffers from Zack Cox syndrome. He gets on base a nice amount, but it's mostly on singles and walks. Generally I'm alright with that, but you can't pen somebody as a future starter in a major league lineup if they can't put up a SLG % over .400 in the minor leagues. I'd also take Hechavarria out of that "future" lineup, just because I doubt he'll ever be able to hit consistently. I really wish we had a backup plan for him...
June 26, 201311 yr Like the way the team is playing out there this month. If they can keep the pace (12-9) throughout the rest of the season, we could finish 75-87.

Rarely is the board SO split on one player, but people seem to love or hate this guy. His defense is fantastic, I don't care what the metrics say, he is great out there and continually makes up for his offense in the field. And he shows flashes with the bat that he can, in fact, hit a little bit. This month he has been much improved... hitting .263 this month, certainly moving up...

He's an AAA guy.

He's an AAA guy. Because his defensive metrics don't show just how good he is. He's more valuable than numbers project, one of the rare guys I'll defend despite the numbers. It's worth giving him some time to work things out.

Clearly I left that part out on purpose. He's like Solano, but with a good glove!
June 26, 201311 yr I feel like people leave Marisnick out of the future lineups because they're reluctant to admit that Stanton won't be here in a year.

June 26, 201311 yr They're 12-9 in June and they still own the worst record, but only by 3 games. If they keep it up there won't be any #1 pick, but dumping Nolasco and whoever else might keep them in contention for the prize. Cheer for Houston and the 5 other teams with fewer than 34 wins.
June 26, 201311 yr I feel like people leave Marisnick out of the future lineups because they're reluctant to admit that Stanton won't be here in a year. And leaving out Ruggiano because they cannot abide having a CF with excellent defense who hits 25 HRs a year because he is over thirty.

Actually, its the brilliant manager who keeps leaving out Ruggiano.
