July 28, 201312 yr I hope they wouldn't take anything less then a top prospect. My question was more to see whether people on here would trade Cishek for a top prospect or if they'd keep him. For a Castellanos? I would definitely trade him. Only for a prospect that fills a need, though.
July 28, 201312 yr I would trade him for a top prospect because he's a closer/reliever and they're easier to replace. (especially since the team is bad) I've definitely always liked Cishek though.
July 28, 201312 yr Just a thought, I'm sure we all remember that game Benitez saved, I believe in '04, when he came in to like a bases loaded situation in the 8th with no outs and saved it big time. Love it. Anyways, whats the single season saves record here? And how many did Bryan Harvey have? edit- Found it, Benitez has the single season record with 47, Harvey had 45 in '93.

July 28, 201312 yr love that a decent weekend crowd at the stadium got to see a fantastic game like that. (ok only 24k but whatever) come back again soon Marlins fans.
July 29, 201312 yr Can we please take a second and appreciate that Cishek is the best closer we've had in YEARS. I haven't felt this safe watching close games in the 9th since watching the likes of Armando Benitez, Joe Borowski, and Todd Jones finishing off games. This. Completely different feeling watching Cishek than the "oh no is it going to happen again" feeling I would get with the likes of Gregg, Lindstrum or that guy formally known as Nunez. And um, er, Bell. In my defense I wasn't able to see much of the disaster that was last year, so Bell wasn't all that memorable for me even though he should have been.

Would you take a top prospect for him if such an offer came in before the trade deadline?I would give Cishek and Dunn for Skaggs right now. Closer and late inning guys are the easiest to replace in baseball.

And that's probably why nobody goes unless a ridiculous offer is made. We have a bullpen that would suffice for most contenders, and the same can be said for the rotation if they can repeat. All they have to do is find some offense and this team is closer than many believe...
