They reportedly saved only $72 million. That probably won't even cover the Scherzer extension (although it definitely helps), let alone Cabrera and Verlander.

 

Also, Verlander is signed through 2019. There is no need to even think about extending him.

Let's go get Infante now that he has no place in Detroit.

Wow, that's a big deal for both teams for all the reasons mentioned. Tigers shift into a perfect world, now they can get Castellanos in the lineup, Move Miggy to first, get a productive Kinsler, etc. Rangers have been looking for this kind of bat for a long time, they even tried to sign Prince themselves... They finally get the bat they covet, they get Profar at second base, and a discount on Prince's contract.

I'd like that. But I doubt Infante would be willing to come back here this early in our rebuilding. Plus he'll get a nice chunk of change from somewhere and it won't be us. From what I know him, he deserves better honestly.
