2013/14 offseason signings/trades

Featured Replies

Plus he'll still be young enough to sign a big deal after this if he produces anyway.

A big deal, yea, but if he locked in for a year in a pitchers park and really did well... he would have gotten a huge contract for a very long time considering he would only be 28.

But considering how bad his 2013 was... what if he had a bad 2014 and he thus throws away all the guaranteed money that the Twins have offered him? I think he did the smart thing for himself financially.

Eh, I'm not disagreeing at all, just surprised.

That trade the Tigers made tonight is the worst one I've seen in awhile. Doug Fister for a lot of nothing.

pending physical but Dioner Navarro to the Jays. 2yrs/8mil

Dammit the Marlins could have afforded that

I still don't think he's worth it after only one decent season.

I think it would've been a great signing because I feel like now they're going to give Salty a shitload of money. I'd rather spend 8 mil on shit than 40 mil on shit. I hate how I have to view this team this way.

It seems like the Nationals make very good trades. Didn't they get Denard Span for a pile of nothing as well?

I am going to make a guess and say that the Marlins pass on Salty and try to acquire Arencibia.

Jim Johnson went to oakland for jemile weeks. Good trade for oakland. Peace out, Balfour.

Glad im not alone in this thought. I pretty much read the trade like three times trying to see if I find a better name than Steve Lombardozzi going back to Detroit. Odd trade.

The Tigers reduced salary opened up a rotation spot for Drew Smiley

and got a pretty good pitching prospect in Ray

So ur telling me the Tigers were willing to get lesser names back just to get the salary relief? Pfft, no way. I can't think of any team that would ever do that.

Yeah, Dombrowski's moves this offseason scream of desperation. Why you would trade a quality starter, when they are getting overpaid on the open market, for a utility infielder, a relief pitcher, and a pitching prospect is beyond me.

I really hope not. He's almost worse than Brantly with the bat except a few of his pop flys go over the fence. How do you hit 21 homers and have an OPS in the .500's? Crazy...

Why do we keep trying to get Toronto's crap catchers? Buck, Mathis... now Arencibia? PASS.
