Marlins Acquire Dee Gordon for Andrew Heaney

Featured Replies

the mlbtraderumors comments on this trade are so accurate it's painful

oh no, the analytics nerds don't like the trade.

So $12 million to spend on 1B and a SP. Let's assume that we only look at FA

Options are:

Scherzer

Shields

A. Cabrera

Headley

Santana

Scott Baker

Harang

Hammel

Callaspo

Beachy

Liriano

Lowrie

Just to name a few.

The marlins are a bunch of fucking idiots for trading for Dee Gordon

Agree to Disagree...and I'm pretty sure your feelings are known at this point.

You don't like the trade....do you need to remind us again?

You call him a "genius," however he has resources that the Marlins simply don't. Friedman was able to dangle $10 million in order to get the deal done. The Marlins FO doesnt have that luxury.

But the entire idea of working from no money is to hold your cheap assets until they become valuable ones. then sell them for lots of other guys who can eventually become more cheap assets. By trading these four guys for dee gordon and haren you have gone against the entire mantra of being a poor GM. buy low sell high.

Anyone else thinks that Beinfest is drinking a mojito somewhere and laughing his ass off, while he shakes his head thinking about how much of a moron Hills and Jennings really are?

Beinfest isn't exactly one to talk either

Is there even a guarantee that Hatcher and Hernandez make the Dodgers Major League roster at any point?

Losing Hatcher, Hernandez, and Barnes doesn't faze me in the least. Yes, I understand the whole "save your assets for other deals" argument, but I don't think many teams would be banging our doors down for Hatcher, Hernandez, or Barnes.

Yes, both will make the roster. Hatcher is a lock. If Kike doesn't make it, it's because the Dodgers are more interested in developing him in the minors. He could definitely play in the big leagues right now though.

Yes. I'm far more upset about this trade than the 2012 one. At least we got value back in that trade. As Erick said, this is a cheap organization being cheap. Stanton needs to GTFO

I wouldn't be suprised if Stanton is part of the reason they made this deal....supposedly Giancarlo and Gordon hit it off at the ASG.

Miguel Rojas is an elite defensive player who will never make our roster due to the fact that Donovan Solano will forever have his spot.

Doubtful, as Dee Gordon is the type of player that makes Beinfest reach for the lotion and kleenex. "Whats his 40 time? uhhhhhhh"

This is just a cheap organization being cheap.

Yeah...it sounds to me like it was basically Heaney/Hernandez for Gordon and Barnes/Hatcher for the $12 million that Loria will pocket for Haren NOT to play for us (aka get Haren out of their hair).

Will that money be redistributed back into the team? LOL that's a funny question. Although I do see some of that money going towards a contract for Morse if he chooses us over San Francisco.

Is he really that good defensively?

Because his slash line makes Mathis looks like an All Star.
