December 11, 201411 yr I have never called him anything more than a utility player at the MLB level. I think you claimed that to be his floor, where I claimed that to be his ceiling.
December 11, 201411 yr Whatever house you guys are building is going to look weird as fuck with the floor being the ceiling and vice versa. Either way I hope it burns down with both of you in it. Harsh, bro. .

Wild Card would be trying to put the fire out with water and Spike would be calling him an idiot for attempting to do so because using sand has a higher success rate.
December 11, 201411 yr And yet those are still three franchise players. How many other teams have three homegrown bonifide franchise players right now? Atlanta Braves: Freeman, Wood, Kimbrel Cincinnati Reds: Votto, Bruce, Bailey Los Angeles Angels: Trout, Calhoun, Weaver St. Louis Cardinals: Wong(potentially), Carpenter, Wacha Washington Nationals: Harper, Zimmerman, Zimmermann And those were just the first 5 teams off the top of my head.

December 11, 201411 yr Author This is a joke right? While I agree with your other cross outs, Kole Calhoun is a criminally underrated player and is certainly a franchise guy.
December 11, 201411 yr While I agree with your other cross outs, Kole Calhoun is a criminally underrated player and is certainly a franchise guy. Umm... Kole Calhoun was a 27-year-old near-rookie that OPSed .776. I understand the WAR, but c'mon. If he's a franchise player then so is Ozuna. Stop it.

December 11, 201411 yr Defense. He's no Jason Heyward. Now THAT is a mid .700's OPS corner OFer that I will call a franchise player. Especially considering he's a lot younger than Kole. Sorry but Calhoun is a good player, not a franchise player. Yelich is a very similar player to Calhoun, except he is 5 years younger. Obviously that's a huge difference.

You won this one. I didn't realize Calhoun's age. He's still a fantastic player, but you're right that he isn't a franchise guy.

December 11, 201411 yr The agreement is the Fish get the $10 Million regardless of whether he pitches or not. So if he retires, great, we get the money and grab a FA. If he doesn't retire, we got him in the rotation for free in 2015. So for someone to say that the trade was all about money is foolish until Haren makes up his mind, because if he decides to pitch, the money is rather irrelevant because we upgraded in two major areas. Even if Haren plays its still about money. They could have gotten more or given up less if they didn't ask the Dodgers to pay for Haren and more shamefully Dee Gordon's 1st year arbitration.

December 11, 201411 yr This is a joke right? Why is Jordan Zimmermann crossed out? And Jay Bruce, who has been a fixture of the Reds outfield since 2009? And outside of an injury plagued 2014 had been a 3-4 WAR player for most of that timeframe? Not sure why Homer Bailey had been crossed out either. Then again, you are a fucking moron so I have no idea why I am wasting my time.

Bailey has had two good seasons, 2.5 and 3.2 WARS in 12/13 (still not particularly good, even Eovaldi was a 3 WAR pitcher last year), otherwise is a 1 WAR pitcher or less and he's never posted an ERA below 3.49. Again, stop it. You're making yourself look bad.

He also had an injury plagued year and was a 4 WAR player in 2013. Ryan Zimmerman was a franchise player, and is still on their roster, which is the question you asked. And you crossed out Jordan Zimmermann anyway. Homer Bailey was a stretch, I will admit. Could have went with Cueto if I wasn't going strictly for drafted players. Once again, you dont know jack shit about baseball. You should really stop attempting to discuss it.
December 11, 201411 yr You both are so over the top it makes both of your arguments look extreme and bad. The truth is almost always in the middle of all of your arguments because you are so over the top.
December 11, 201411 yr I haven't been around much lately, but it looks like Wild Card is still Wild Carding.

December 11, 201411 yr Love the trade. We got a young, potentially dynamic leadoff hitter and a proven veteran sp for basically a pitcher with good potential. Gordon-Yelich-Stanton-Ozuna. 1-4 our lineup looks pretty good. Wouldn't mind landing one more hitter though.

December 11, 201411 yr For what it's worth, I'm not disappointed with our recent drafts. We have a core of drafted players on our roster that is better than most teams. I'm disappointed that our owner is cheap and doesn't help that core out enough.
