December 2, 201510 yr Although it says the marlins have checked in on Shelby Miller I think it wouldn't be a good trade overall. Marlins would get Miller and Braves would get Ozuna and probably Dunn or another pitcher, but then they would probably want the Marlins to take on a bad contract like Michael Bourn. That right there says no way. Nothing close with Miller for now yeah
December 2, 201510 yr Miller would be nice but the Braves are gonna put a real high price tag on him and especially being in their division they'll try and kill us for a huge return. That's the bottom line with the Shelby Miller idea.
December 2, 201510 yr Didn't the Phillies want Ozuna? I'd trade him to them and put a huge price tag on it
December 2, 201510 yr Didn't the Phillies want Ozuna? I'd trade him to them and put a huge price tag on it Yeah and then they trade him to Atlanta for Miller and then we realize we need an outfielder to replace him and then we trade Jose to Atlanta for Ozuna... problem solved, NL East fixed.
December 2, 201510 yr Samardzija got a 100 mil offer...Marlins? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/jeff-samardzija-100-million-offer.html

December 2, 201510 yr Dumping cum in your boyfriends toilet? This coming from the one who claims he's older than me.
December 2, 201510 yr I came on here fearing the exact same thing. Thank God it wasn't us The Marlins are dumb enough to do that, but thankfully their cheapness trumps all.
December 3, 201510 yr A lot of people on here are very quick to say no to every rumored move, but at some point the Marlins have to do something to improve the team (or in their minds improve the team) whether it's trading ozuna or overpaying for the shark.

I'm just saying no with shark because I know it wasn't the fish that offered that 100MM
December 3, 201510 yr Guess where I'm reading your comments from???? Is it weird that I want to know? Where?
December 3, 201510 yr I'm just saying no with shark because I know it wasn't the fish that offered that 100MM I know. I wasnt commenting on your post. Just generally a lot of people on here seem to be against every move. Which i understand the reasoning, but I also believe the Marlins have to make some moves whatever they may be. At this point we really just have one proven starter and even he isn't a sure bet due to health concerns. The fish have to sign some starting pitchers or make trades to acquire one or more.
December 4, 201510 yr "Contrary to some of the myriad of rumors out there, we are not actively shopping him," Hill said of Ozuna. "Clubs are coming after him because he's a talented player. If you have talented players, clubs are going to call and ask for them. When someone calls, we listen to see if it is something that makes sense, both in the short-term and the long-term." This one is a lie, @dim is right about that
December 4, 201510 yr I read that comment as "We were definitely trying to trade him but since we weren't getting the top level pitching we want back, we're leaning towards keeping him and thus will try to convince you that we were never shopping him" If so, at least I'm proud they didn't settle on the return.
December 4, 201510 yr They aren't leaning towards keeping him Ok so they're still trying, the question is are they gonna keep trying until they get a #2 starter and possibly keep him or are they gonna settle? Which side wins out?

But for $100 million? I'm all for making a push for Samardzija, but for a reasonable amount. Giving a guy who posted a 4.96 ERA and 4.23 FIP last season (with scary GB/FB stats, as well) $100 million is an incredibly risky move.

Your guess is as good as mine or anyone's to be honest. When Loria is involved, we just never know. Right now, they don't plan to settle.
December 4, 201510 yr ### Though the Marlins continue to consider trades for outfielder Marcell Ozuna, there is no ownership edict to trade him if Miami can’t get a quality pitcher in return. "Contrary to some of the rumors out there, we are not actively shopping him," Marlins executive Michael Hill said today. "…. When someone calls [in general about talented players], we listen to see if it is something that makes sense." Add Baltimore’s Wei-Yin Chen (11-8, 3.34 ERA) to the list of free agent pitchers that interest the Marlins, as Fox’sKen Rosenthal noted. Barry Jackson, Miami Herald.
