May 12, 201610 yr Bad bullpen move by Mattingly, seriously let Chen finish the damn inning. Our pitchers go 6 innings and the bullpen fills in the gaps. That's all find and dandy now but come July / August you are going to have some tired arms. At this rate Phelps will make 70+ appearances. Nice home run by Bour and key to get the win going into this weekend.

Chen dominated, the offense had a big inning with a blast and a manufactured run, Ozuna had a great outfield assist, Phelps had a scoreless 8th with some help from Rojas, and the closer that many dislike is now 10/10 in saves after throwing a 1-2-3 inning with a K. No need to say it was ugly just because Bryan Morris isn't pretty. If our manager would just bring in BearKlaw, it would've been pretty orgasmic.

I think Mattingly just has it set in his mind now. 7- Bearclaw 8- Phelps 9- Ramos Morris is fine with runners OFF base otherwise he is walking them in. Brewers had a chance to build a big inning had Villar not gotten thrown out.

May 12, 201610 yr It is really amazing that he brought in Morris and it came very close to costing us the lead if not for the throw by Ozuna. Morris also loves to throw an early strike and then not come close after that. Have to feel bad for Chen. He's had like 4-5 runs score through inherited runners. I also wanted Chen to get one more batter but Mattingly was so desperate to bring in Morris.

May 12, 201610 yr So I might just be crazy but is it possible that putting Morris in this position is Don Mattingly's way of saying "see what I mean, he sucks" to the FO? I'm sorry but I don't buy that Don doesn't protect the victories. He always switches out players for ones with better defense in the late innings and for a while he had the solid, Bear Claw- Phelps- Aj "What is One-two-three" Ramos pitching the 7-8-9. I just can't understand how it's possible for all of us to be right about who should pitch when and not have the manager see it the same way. But then again that's how it's been for us every season. There has to be another reason.. There just has to be... Right?
