Posted June 8, 20168 yr This is just a small sample of things said about Stanton on this Marlins forum. By Marlins "fans". I didn't single anyone out and not everyone I quote is necessarily a whiny Stanton hater. These are from last nights post game: "Stanton has to go. Remember over praising the guy! Guy hasn't really done much since April 2015." -vince "I blame Stanton because, at this point, fuck him." - "Erick" "(Stanton) doesn't know how to swing a bat." -taiwanmarlin It's easy to be a Marlins fan (and a Stanton fan) when the Marlins are winning and Stanton is bouncing balls off of the operable windows left and center field. Anyone can do that. But can you be a fan when you're crowd drawing bat in the lineup is down and out and has lost his way? Ask yourself that. It's June 8th and the Marlins are 2 games over .500, 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot with a favorable schedule the next 10 days or so and some of you sound like 4 year olds having a tantrum because you didn't get the toy you wanted at the mall. bUT wE cOULd bE 8 GamES oVER .500 iF sTANtOn dIDNt sUCk diCk!!!!!1111 get a grip. Support your right fielder because you're going to look like an immature asshole when he's OPS'ing .900+ by seasons end.

June 8, 20168 yr Stanton is going to put up the numbers by season's end, bunch of haters on this site.

Support your right fielder because you're going to look like an immature asshole when he's OPS'ing .900+ by seasons end. .163 batting avg with RISP. .000 batting avg with RISP with 2 outs. .246 batting avg when ahead .103 batting avg when behind .454 OPS in the last 28 days But here are the really scary stats His HR/FB is 3% over his career avg. His LD% is only 3% below his career average. His AB per HR is slightly above his career avg. His AB per K is below his career avg. But his balls in play is 7% below career avg and sits at 45%. In conclusion, yes I think we all expect him to get to that .900 ops you mentioned, but the way he is playing right now, he is hurting this team. His advanced show that he is fairly at par with his career. Don't expect fans to "support" a player that is hurting a team like he is. You call it immature, but all the stats and even the old fashioned eye test would call it rational. You have a .454 OPS over the last 28 days you deserve criticism, whether you're Jeremy Herminda or Giancarlo Stanton. If you are ok with the way he is playing, I assume you aren't even watching the games.
June 8, 20168 yr Also you're being a bad fan if you close your eyes and simply ignore the truth that is happening around you. Stanton isn't playing well right now. Calling out players who underperform needs to happen (just like multiple fans have gone out of their way to praise Dietrich for his great season this year). Stanton is a big problem this year. All the people calling for his head in terms of trading him or whatever are clearing either trolling or incredibly stupid, but the majority here know that Stanton is streaky. Once he gets in a slump it really gets to him mentally. This is the worst it has ever been however. I don't see him coming out of things this road trip, but it won't be too long. He hit a few hard hit balls last night. A few of them get through and Stanton regains his confidence. That's the key. It's nothing mechanical or some off-the-field issue. It's clearly him worrying too much and making things worse.
June 8, 20168 yr Marlins should be 34-24 at least if he produced. I remember someone said he swings and misses like he doesn't care. And there is absolute reason to believe he doesn't. He already will get paid his money. So what does he care?
June 8, 20168 yr I think most of us know the truth and just express momentary frustration but I think most understand he'll be fine. Really seems more mental than anything now. In a way though, this has been so prolonged that I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the year, while his numbers will rise, he might have finished at his worst numbers ever. Not that they'll be Mathis level bad but more like "bad for Stanton." It does seem like something is off. But I guess we'll see.
June 8, 20168 yr @taiwanmarlin watches the game too. It's not about projections where his OPS is. It's what he sees on his TV. Did Marlins win the game last night? No? Well who are we gonna point our fingers at with a measly 4 runs? Phelps or not, team with Stanton can score 6-7 runs a game and I barely see that anymore
June 8, 20168 yr I don't wanna say something about Stanton that I thought of last night but I guess I'm gonna have to. Maybe saying it will be what makes it not happen...
June 8, 20168 yr I don't wanna say something about Stanton that I thought of last night but I guess I'm gonna have to. Maybe saying it will be what makes it not happen... yeah last night was probably the most upset ive ever been with him actually

Phelps or not, team with Stanton can score 6-7 runs a game and I barely see that anymore But you are acting like Stanton was the sole reason we lost the game, that isn't true. Stanton struggling has hurt the team, but like @dim said he has always been a notoriously streaky hitter. You just gotta hope that when he is struggling someone else picks up the slack and fortunately we have had guys do that. If anything it if a testament that we are above .500 right now and not well below it. I wanna see him get a couple hits tonight, including a homer just as bad as the next person. But it may not happen right now but in the end he will be fine.
June 8, 20168 yr yeah last night was probably the most upset ive ever been with him actually Stay tuned.
June 8, 20168 yr yeah last night was probably the most upset ive ever been with him actually I was pretty upset with the K to Abad but then I remembered the fly out to Grossman and the rocket to shortstop and I thought maybe he's closer than we think.

June 8, 20168 yr To me, a slump is 3 weeks to a month at max. After that, something is going on. You have some of the best hitting coaches in the world, all the video analysis you could want, and full access to batting cages, BP throwers etc. Figure it out.
June 8, 20168 yr Stanton actually hit a couple hard smashes to the SS. First one was a real nice play to take away a hit and the second one was right at him.
June 8, 20168 yr Stanton actually hit a couple hard smashes to the SS. First one was a real nice play to take away a hit and the second one was right at him. Yeah it was actually pretty awesome hearing the difference of the sound off the bat in those at bats compared to everyone else
June 8, 20168 yr Did you mean home runs? Hahahahaha. No he will get 15 homers. The other 10 is singles and doubles
June 8, 20168 yr Hahahahaha. No he will get 15 homers. The other 10 is singles and doubles If Stanton only gets 25 hits the rest of the year, I will ban myself from the site for a year. No wait, 2 years.
