2016 Trade Deadline Thread

So is this douche Hill going to be in the broadcast booth tonight to give a half inning's worth of non-answers, vague statements? And will he put the entire audience to sleep while doing so?

Because that's what he does every year.

another good reason to watch the cubs broadcast tonight

It'd be easy to argue that this season was gonna end in disappointment anyway but it's gonna be even more disappointing because we couldn't improve our team today. And I'm one of the few who actually thinks Cashner makes us better.

pretty sure everyone thinks he cashner makes us better, but it's pretty unlikely he's the difference b/t a playoff spot or not esp if we're talking about stretching david phelps out.

Best move would have been sitting tight, signing cashner in the off season, and keep carter capps.

My roughly 5 hour vacation from this place was great

You wouldn't have a life without this site.  God knows you already don't have a sex life.

I vehemently against Phelps starting..

I'm in borderline fear of it. He found his place as a one inning setup guy and now we're gonna remove him from that and put him back to his previous role which he was basically just average at? Recipe for disaster but I hope I'm wrong.
We're lucky to have this record with our rotation, but just don't expect this rotation would carried us to the playoff.

on the flipside, you could argue that we should have even more wins because we get so many damn hits (yet fail to score)

The better argument is we should have less wins with only a +17 run differential

Who's we? The Indians?!

1st in the NL in BA

6th in the NL in OPS

10th in the NL in runs.  And we've played more games than most teams in the league.

Yuck.

I wonder what's happening.  OPS should correlate to runs, unless we're making baserunning mistakes or the other teams aren't making as many errors against us. Or our hitting is really really untimely.

But 10th in the league in runs?  That's not going to get it done with our pitching staff.

that's kinda my point.  we should have scored quite a few more runs than we have.  although a large part of it has also been our station to station approach on the basepaths and now Mattingly's stubbornness to not start Dee early when Prado is batting.

Pretty sure Dee has the green light to go whenever he wants.

Roflmao

We always think Loria not spend big,but does fans buy the tickets in this year's good season ? our Florida neighborhood Rays can't attract fans even in their successful seasons,so I afraid the same thing would happen here.

The vast majority of those hits are singles so, no.

6th in the NL in OPS

14 teams in MLB have a better team OPS than the Marlins.

That's not the Miami market. If Loria thinks he can change the behavior of consumers he is insane.

What behavior of consumers in the Miami ? always no show up in the ballpark no matter team playing good or bad !?

I checked.  We are #26 in attendance with Tampa Bay dead last.  Right now in 53 home games reported we are running approximately 10.5K more than last year. And over 26K more than 2014.  From what I understand the radio/tv audience is "good" although not certain how that is defined as I can't find any information on it.

But found interesting, lol, article on someone who subjectively rates the baseball booths and rated Marlins #22/32 with just one comment One Reader Comment

• “I have neither heard nor seen the Marlins broadcast crew.”

So now sure how anyone could "rate" that!!
